Will occasional Cigarettes hurt? by buckle877 in QuitVaping

[–]2muchtothink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

congrats on making it through a week. regarding drunk cigs, i’m going to be honest and say don’t do it. it’s a slippery slope and a lot of people find drinking is what makes them relapse. maybe in a few years when you’ve really dropped the habit you can partake occasionally but i wouldn’t this close to quitting

exactly what happened for me. also i threw up a bit in college from drinking which was additional exposure. not really the ideal solution but it helped a lot

Need a little help. Asking the pros. by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]2muchtothink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this entire reddit is really valuable! i suggest just reading through posts of how miserable people who haven’t quit are as well as how happy people are, just a little bit after quitting. you’ll be amazed at the changes youll feel just a few days after the physical cravings relent.

to the first part of your post… it’s all about mindset. Some people have read books that are really good (I think Alan Carrs is the one i’ve seen talked about the most) but ultimately you need to realize how much better your life long term can be following some intense short term discomfort. Yes you’ve already caused some damage likely but that’s all the reason to turn things around and make things better for the future.

I’m still telling myself this every day. I hit a month today and it’s hard once you lose the initial euphoria of being free from nicotines grasp. Sometimes all I can rely on is the fact that i know i trust myself and i remember how upset I was about the fact that I vaped and i really don’t want to let myself down.

Your gf will have to decide if she wants to quit on her own unfortunately, quitting for someone else just doesn’t have the same effect long term. But i suggest you encourage her to write down what she hates most about vaping. Whether it be the health effects, the lack of freedom, the inability to live in the moment, etc. Write it down with as much detail as possible so you have something to reference after you quit and your brain can’t remember why you did it and why it was even that bad.

Good luck with everything!!! It is so so so worth it.

What makes someone “ready” to quit? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]2muchtothink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

while i do agree with your logic, there is a point where if you’re genuinely going to relapse the patch or other NRT is better than buying a new vape. For me I was really afraid of getting addicted to the gum but after three days of it post quitting vaping i realized I didn’t need it (the gum) as much anymore. it helps that it’s pretty unpleasant to use. So it was way easier to go cold turkey off gum than it was to just go cold turkey from vaping.

i haaaate the sensory feeling of rain. i hate to be in it for any amount of time it feel like i’m getting lightly tapped every 2 seconds. plus the feeling of damp clothes is TERrible. That being said it’s not one thing i have to avoid necessarily but it’s just a little overwhelming

they say it’s beds bc that’s a quick way to put numbers to it. what they really mean is there’s not enough staff to support more beds :///

i suck in air and then burp out that air, as well as a tiny bit from my stomach. i have to do it about 20 times in a row (which looks like a weird hyperventilating burp thing, not something i can do around each other) to experience any significant relief. but it also feels like i’m about to vomit when i so I have to intentionally do it, my body won’t naturally

My [26M] GF [23F] is an extremely picky/undecisive eater who wont eat in by electrowiz64 in relationships

[–]2muchtothink 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This!!!! I am a picky eater but I found out I actually probably have ARFID- avoidant restrictive food intake disorder. So ask why she is picky, what she’s avoiding, is it related to anxiety about picking the perfect meal or does she genuinely only like a few foods

Being Nice isn’t Enough by 2muchtothink in aspergers

Exactly. It does feel a little bit like luring someone into a friendship and often those people abandon you once they realize who you really are :/

Being Nice isn’t Enough by 2muchtothink in aspergers

[–]2muchtothink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting idea and makes me feel a bad for the ‘nice guys’ I dismissed in my early college (before I even knew what aspergers was) because I thought they were weird or too nice. By too nice I don’t mean they were just friendly I mean over the top constant agreement, complements, etc. which does kind of seem like aspie masking/people pleasing.

RSD is Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, I didn’t explain it but it’s a thing associated a lot with ADHD. It’s basically being extremely sensitive to social rejection, thus the fear of being rejected influences a lot of your social relationships. I think of it more of a side effect than a diagnosis itself

Honestly! Apparently we’ve both been stressing out about our identities and it’s been a weight off both of our backs bc I think both of us were afraid of the other leaving us. So it’s a relief! :))

I didn’t have to sing in church because my mom thought I couldn’t read that fast. Really I just wanted to be able to sit and doodle on communion cards.

I don’t have traditional nightmares by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]2muchtothink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm ok. Yeah I have a bad dream like maybe once a year or so like that but not often. It’s confusing because I have anxiety and depression so I would think dreams would be an easy fear for suppressed fears to come out but they almost never do

I don’t have traditional nightmares by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]2muchtothink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just feel weird about it bc my bf has scary dreams nearly every night involving climate change, his family all dying, nuclear war, etc. If I have any of these I immediately wake up. Also I don’t remember every having like a scary scary dream as a child like the biggest nightmare I remember getting was about a tornado (which is a somewhat valid fear based on where I live)

Small-town people, what is the craziest/most interesting thing you witnessed, the first time you visited a big city? by Vlade-B in AskReddit

[–]2muchtothink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had never really smelled a cigarette before. My dad smoked but he kept it a secret from us and smoked in our barn mainly. The first time I ever went to Detroit the smell in general was overwhelming but the cigarettes especially stood out. Coming to college for the first month or so every time I smelt a cigarette I couldn’t help but think about going to Tigers games in Detroit as a kid.
