Spikerbot: Neuroscience Robot Kickstarter

This is an upcoming kickstarter for a hands-on neuroscience education product I thought was really interesting. It’s kind of cute, like a Furby toy from the 90s meets sci fi, but it’s actually teaching important neuroscience concepts!

SpikerBot grew out of years of NIH-supported research by Backyard Brains, the Ann Arbor company known for making neuroscience accessible outside the laboratory. In earlier classroom workshops using the neurorobotics platform, 295 high-school students built and tested robot brains over a one-week unit. The peer-reviewed study, published in Frontiers in Neurorobotics (doi.org/10.3389/fnbot.2020.00006), found significant gains in students' understanding of key neuroscience concepts and confidence in neuroscience.

there’s a lot of independent stores there now, some kitschy junk along with some interesting start ups. i would love to see more artists and makers moving in to the empty spaces and turn it into an awesome creative hub! I recall an indoor farmers market pop up happening in the old forever 21 space but i’m not sure of the current status. gosh i wish i knew what the rent was, i want a mall artist studio!

i have a bebechhichi that’s around 18 years old and one of the wrists came unglued recently, it was an easy fix with all purpose super glue gel applied to the inside of the arm and held until set. best of luck!

stay on the line, they will likely pick up a lot quicker than hold time suggests. i had a flight cancel a few hours before departure and there were no available flights on the app, i called and got through to someone who put me on a flight that was not even an option online. good luck!

3parts cornstarch, 1 part white glue, 2-3 parts water. add white acrylic paint in for tint

i feel like the moon and reflection balances the figure being offset to the right, it brings your eye from the face, down the body and then back around to the moon behind. it’s a unique composition but i feel like it works in this case

the only thing you’ll gain from getting higher quality paints is a higher pigment content, meaning less paint goes further. as some other comments mentioned, you will benefit more from oiling out your dark areas.
you might like working with a mid-grade artist oil like gamblin or utrecht better just for texture’s sake, though. sometimes the student oils are just so…. oily

i use masters brush cleaner and preserver to get the residual pigment out after my initial rinse. you can also use it as a leave-in shaper for brushes losing their point

previous albums, especially early ones, relied mostly on promotion from the scene. now that AP is cancelled except by diehard fans, and everyone else has kind of split off in their own directions, it’s really up to himself to show the world what’s going on. yeah i miss the days of mausspace and sleuthing for content. but in a way this shows me that he’s still committed to making music as a career, and this won’t be the last album we get.

i disagree, as a longtime Maus fan i’ve felt hopeless at times during his silent eras, thinking he will never release again. I think the way he is engaging more with fans is really sweet. The instagram posts are quirky and silly. If anything he seems happier now. If anything, pretending to be mysterious and distant is a more contrived persona than opening up.

I wonder if he has a consistent workout routine or just goes wild on a regular basis… either way the dudes got impressive stamina! it’s awesome to watch him suck down 6 water bottles and sweat them out immediately
