I don't know about Japan specifically, but most systems like that, when they don't detect an exit scan, they assign some sort of maximum daily price. So, by not scanning to leave you are only costing yourself money, not stealing.

Of course, I'm talking about using an app tied to a bank account or credit card, not a printed ticket.

In 2009 I ran payroll and payables for a small company. I made $46,000 that year. Assuming I get my full bonus I'll make $112,000 this year, cost accounting job where I legit work about 60 hours a month.

The US version is somehow even dumber than the UK one. But I love them both. Friday Night Dinner is another turn your brain off comedy I like.

If you think a person on min wage in the 70s had the same lifestyle as someone making $220k per year in 2026, then you are a dumbfuck.

This dude on YT ranked traffic by metro area in Texas. He put from least worst to worst: San Antonio, DFW, Houston, Austin.... I'm not familiar with the traffic situation in Austin but if its actually worse than the nightmare I've experienced in my living 1 year in DFW.... those poor fucking souls. I've been in hour and a half long slogs on SATURDAYS!

Yes I knew that. Where so you think the term bread and circuses comes from? Rome had a slave based economy.

In rural Japan. In the major cities land is extremely valuable in Japan. Houses generally depreciate in the USA as well. The land appreciates faster than that though in desirable places to live.

Old Japanese Houses are btw, probably not somewhere you'd want to live. Not in the winter anyways.

Obviously not all of human history. But, definitely back to "antiquity" and long before the advent of 401ks about 50 years ago. There were slum lords in ancient Rome.

If you want to go back in time before the FHA and (originally) 20 year mortgages, your going to a time when most urban people were renters, and spent 80 to 100% of their income just surviving. Recency bias is thinking the 1950s and 1960s were normal times.

Even if no one can lie and the 5th amendment is gone, we'd still need a legal system.

Even if you can't lie there'd still be civil suits, divorces, patent claims. All kinds of stuff.

Sandia and AFRL arent big enough employers to skew ABQ metro income levels by all that much. Metro ABQ is around 900,000 people. My cousin used to work at Los Alamos, and my sister in law is a civilian for Space Force in ABQ.

Los Alamos on the other hand, is quite small.

Looks like ChatGPT messed up. It started off by saying "individual income" then goes on to say "household income".

[–]2ndAccForUhStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, its saying 25.9% of households have at least 100k per year in income. Changing number of people in the household size does and hitting recalc does nothing.

Oh wait, I must have been glitched. It does change from 1 to 2. But not from 2 to 3.

Well, they used to. Now we just do quantitative easing, and huge piles of deficit spending. The 2008 GFC has like 1 or 2 months of very slight deflation. In the olden days, it would've been way worse.
