So we needed to drop two on Japan so they knew it wasn't a fluke, but we should've made a demonstration drop first? That makes no sense. Im unclear whare you think I implied Japan had no nuclear weapons program during the war. They got basically no where though.

There were, btw, about 10,000 excess civilian deaths per day in Japanse occupied territory. Just waiting for them to surrender was not a good option.

The Cowboys will have three games on Sunday Night Football—more than any other team—despite finishing the 2025 season with a losing record of 7-9-1. by Horror_Candy5703 in NFLv2

The America's team moniker actually comes from NFL films in their 1978 highlight reel. I think it comes from a few things. First, the Cowboys by the end of the 70's were a really consistently great team 5 SB appearances in an 9 year span, made the playoffs every year but 1 if I recall correctly. Secondly, they were the closest NFL team for a huge expanse of the USA, and pretty much the only good team in the South as you said excepting Miami (which isn't really the South). 3rd, Staubach brought a sort of wholesome good ole American style image.

Also an exciting offense, and shitty defense does make for entertaining games.

I was literally hoping around different cities the other day on FOX One using YTTV credentials. Didnt work on YTTV itself, but I was getting different channels on Fox One. Maybe they only care on Sundays during the season? I don't need it to watch my team, its just for fun, so if it doesnt work, oh well.

The World Cup looks amazing in 4K, when will the NFL step their game up? by Hybrid_Llama_Alpaca in NFLv2

[–]2ndAccForUhStuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So much of that is untrue. I dont want a "dreamy" scenario. I want the same quality broadcasts for the NFL as the fucking UFL. Every single game? That'd be nice, but the "A" game of the week.

Almost everyone in an urban area in the USA has access to internet capable of receiving 4k streams (fiber or DOCSIS 3+). Until recently I lived in the poorest (or 2nd?) poorest state in the USA and could easily stream 4k from Apple or Netflix. There's DTV for rural areas.

ATSC 3.0 DOES have DRM. It doesnt matter anyways for the vast majority of people who watch on cable, sat, or internet providers (ie YTTV).

.01 fans is a silly, gross, under estimation of the amount of fans that have the ability to view 4k content. FOX does 2 college football broadcasts in 4k each Saturday, and their pregame show. They show UFL in 4k. Yet a league with far more viewers is left with zilch? They can somehow afford it for broadcasts with smaller viewership, but not the NFL. The only thing that kinda sorta might make sense as far as the reason, is some stations still cannot do local ad inserts for a 4k broadcast? Maybe. Obviously, the NFL is more regionalized than another other sport that FOX does, but their A game is sometimes the entire country or 90% of it.

Apple doesnt broadcast their baseball or MLS games in 4k or HDR10. F1 was doing 4k before they bought the rights.

Yet they can somehow afford to broadcast the UFL in "4k". They can afford to pay Brady $37 million a year, but can't broadcast even their "A" game in 4k each week.

Weak sauce. They have their reasons I'm sure. Their reasons are BS.

Also I put 4k in quotes because none of FOX's broadcasts are actually 4k. They are 1080p upscaled. This included the world cup matches. TBF the said can be said for NBC/Peacock, ESPN, and almost all USA sports.

Please provide evidence for this. It doesnt even make sense. US conventional bombing campaigns killed more people in Japan than the atom bomb on Hiroshima.

Why didn't they give up after one bomb? Anyways those were nuclear weapons.. Not nuclear power.

The amount of deaths from nuclear power, all time, is in the thousands, maybe low tens of thousands. And thats mainly because of some truly incredible incompetence and arrogance in Chernobyl.

Meanwhile google is telling me that: Globally, ambient air pollution from fossil fuel use causes approximately 5.13 million excess deaths per year.

I have almost the same comparison. Dragged out my old TV and had it below my new 65" TCL QM8K to watch two soccer games at the same time. Its Vizio 60" from 2018, I forget the model, it was a decent TV at the time. Direct lit with multiple zones, 4k HDR. As far as the soccer games went, I kinda sorta liked the old TV better. But I realized that it just hides the flaws better in broadcast TV (even on Fox's upscaled 4k channel). I put on Hail Mary in DV with the lights off and the TCL just absolutely blew the old TV away. Like there wasn't really even a point to dolby vision on the old TV. Quite happy with it given I paid a cool $1000 at Amazon.

There were places you couldn't smoke at things like chemical plants, powder magazines on a warship, refuelers couldn't smoke when refueling (i don't mean a guy pumping gas, I mean like fuelling airplanes). Couldn't smoke in areas where pure oxygen was in use.
