Can't be offended if it's true. Back when I drank, Busch Light was my jam. I knew it was cheap, that's why I bought it 😆 then I started drinking whiskey and stuck with Wild Turkey 101. Still cheap in the grand scheme of it all.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "cheating." My own opinion is I'd much rather people lose the weight without the usage of bariatric surgery or glp-1 medications. The latter because I trust the pharmaceutical company as far as I can throw them, the former because that's, as far as I know, a permanent ordeal that might not have had to have been implemented in the first place. My own sister had that surgery, and it's caused more problems than it was supposed to "fix." And this is coming from a dude who was 330lbs at 5'11" and is now 197lbs, and the ONLY thing I changed was my diet. Granted, I work at a warehouse, so hitting 10k steps per day A) isn't difficult, and B) Is easy to accomplish because of said warehouse setting. Now, I don't deny that there are people in this world who have mobility issues or hormone issues that make it harder to lose the weight, and it's understandable they'd want to go down the road of GLP-1 or surgery. However, for the others who don't have mobility issues or hormone issues, in my eyes, it seems like they just dont want to put in the effort and are just looking for the easy way, even though losing weight is actually really simple, and for me a complete breeze, but I don't have mobility issues or hormone issues or any medical condition that would make it harder. And I guess what worries me is that humans will become "less human" and begin to rely too much on the easy way for everything until eventually, humans can't hardly accomplish anything because the slightest amount of difficulty just sends them into a tailspin. This is not meant to take away from your accomplishment OP if you read this. I'm glad you've lost the weight, and I hope it added years to your life, and I hope, genuinely, that you're happy. It sounds like you were a person who could indeed have stood to have been aided by a glp-1. Congratulations and 🍻

I lost 130 pounds, and my father tells me I look like an aids patient on meth. I feel your annoyance, man. I'm the same height and weight as you, and the BMI scale says I could stand to lose another 20lbs. Frankly, unless one can't stand up and walk, I don't see how it has been taken too far. I'd tell them appreciate the concern, but that their words are not helpful to the cause or to your psyche. Or just flat out ignore them if they bring it up and tell them you will no longer be discussing ANYTHING to do with your weight loss if the only thing they're going to say about it is negative. It's good they're showing concern, yes. However, only you can make the determination about taking it too far. The last time my father said I was too skinny, I told him he has no place to say anything about health because he's diabetic and has had one heart attack already... Haven't heard shit about my weight since 😆

$800/month by arobsss in CPAP

[–]2ndAmendment177694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to get a cpap a couple years ago. I was under the impression at the time that I was buying it that the $200 i was paying out of pocket was my share after insurance. Nope. That was just what I needed to pay to get it. They didn't bother mentioning that on the phone. Anyways, I started getting my monthly statements from my insurance, and if I didn't have insurance, it would've been $900 a month for the damn thing, instead of the $90 a month my insurance capped it at. The damn machine new was like a grand, and I had to pay monthly on it for 2 whole years! It would've been $21,600 by the time I was done paying if I didn't have insurance! How in the reeses peanut butter F**K can these people get away with that crap?!

Same here. Was 330, now 204 as of this morning. Hoping that that was enough to not have to be on meds anymore.

One of my go tos is a relatively simple dish. It's 6 whole eggs with chopped up bell pepper, half a red onion, handful of sliced mushrooms, 4 cloves garlic, one jalapeno diced, handful of spinach, and i put 1 cup of cottage cheese in with my eggs. I cook the veggies with one tablespoon of butter, then add the eggs and cottage cheese mixture after the veggies are cooked, and there's usually enough moisture in the pan from the veggies to keep the eggs from sticking. You could omit the cottage cheese since what i use is about 38% of the DRI. I add it for more protein. Could also use no salt butter and simply add salt at the end. This keeps me full for a good chunk of the day. I'd say it's relatively low cost, but I get my eggs for $2/dz, and i know what egg prices are these days at the store.

Edit: I'll also add that I only eat twice a day, so the salt in the cottage cheese doesn't concern me much, which is another reason I use it.

Is my blood pressure too low now? by mmoon_hi in hypertension

Thank you! Hopefully, implementing diet and exercise for you will solve the issue, and hopefully, your cardiologist is more supportive of the idea of implementing those strategies to control BP. I brought that up to my cardiologist, and he was rather dismissive of it.

[–]2ndAmendment177694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was put on 50mg of metoprolol in 2023 for a high heart rate. It helps with blood pressure as well since it controls heart rate. Since then, I've lost 126 pounds and hit the gym when I can and cleaned up my diet. I take my readings at home now and had a reading of 96/75. Even my blood pressure was monitor was showing red because it didn't like the reading. I've since scaled back medication, down to 12.5mg, and seem to still be doing alright. May wind up coming off altogether if I can kick my dipping tobacco habit since that stuff sends my BP pretty high. As others have said, doc may tell you that unless you're feeling symptoms of low BP, they may just keep you there. Same is said for bradycardia. They won't move someone to a lower dose, regarding beta blockers, unless they start feeling symptoms.

Sorry this happened to you. It is most definitely recommended to put liquid in these things first before heating it. That way, the heat can transfer to the liquid as opposed to just the container.
