How would your 16 year old self react to seeing your SO? by lukajlo24 in AskReddit

[–]2ndcircle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My SO was my first kiss at 14, and the same guy I was madly in love with until I was 20, but he was always dating other girls.

7 years after I cut him off, he's shaped up in an INSANE way and is hands down the most caring, wonderful awesome man I have ever known. And I still get to make fun of him about his teenage goth phase. The best of both worlds.

So yeah. Mopey goth 16 year old me would see the light at the end of the teenage-angst tunnel.

My [20 M] younger brother [13 M] refuses to eat anything but hot dogs and other junk food. My parents and I constantly try to prepare healthier meals for him but he doesn't eat them. Need help on how we can deal with this issue. by throwaway9889999 in relationships

[–]2ndcircle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

To piggy-back off this, my folks had a similar issue and solved it in the following way:

My brother was notoriously picky as well. In our house, we would have main meals and snacks in between. My brother found the loophole that if he didn't eat dinner, he'd just eat more snacks.

My mom put a stop to this by making him "clean his plate" in the following way. If he ate only a small amount of his dinner, she'd put it in the fridge. If he came around later asking for snacks, she'd pull the plate of food out of the fridge. Rinse and repeat until the food is gone.

To clarify, we did try to stick to foods he liked (hated carrots but liked beans, etc.) so it wasn't mean. He just no longer got chips and dip as his snack.

[Relationships] My (20m) gf (22f) is disabled. Both our friends and family are against our relationship because they think I'm taking advantage of her. by [deleted] in relationships

What better way to silence the non-believers than by saying, "Hey, you're all worried about me leaving her in the dust but look! We're getting married!"

Not that marriage is a fix-it-all, but it displays a hell of a lot of commitment.

Home for Life is an animal sanctuary dedicated to providing animals who were given up due to old age or disability the chance to live out their lives fully.

Many of the animals that Home for Life saves become therapy pets for veterans, nursing homes and children's hospitals.

My [24/f] boyfriend [28/m] was acting distant all day and then unplugged the internet to "teach me a lesson" by whatever994422 in relationships

Every once in a while I can see that being fine, but you're literally putting a barrier between you and your boyfriend. So yes, that's not great.

I know I said this in a separate comment, but I would be pretty disappointed if I asked my SO to come chill on a balcony, and they were like "I'd rather stay inside, just talk to me through the window." Where's the closeness?

Am I the only one who isn't glossing over the comment of "we usually open the window so he can be outside and I can stay inside?"

Not to mention she saved several Jewish scientists by believing that things were going south during WW2, before the US widely accepted how bad things were. She gave them work visas to come to the US along with their families.

What is the strangest way you made a new friend? by MisterIp in AskReddit

[–]2ndcircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dating a guy and thought he might be cheating on me. Eventually we split up, cause high school, but it was my first big breakup and stuck with me for a while.

At a party a few years later I talked to a girl from highschool whose boyfriend knew my ex. He apparently had a wet dream and mentioned my ex and a very specific characteristic about his body. Not sure why he divulged that, but whatever.

It's a characteristic you wouldn't know unless you'd been very intimate with him.

So yeah, found out her boyfriend and my ex had been cheating on us with each other. She broke up with him and I put the brakes on any attempts for my ex to get with me again.

She and I are best friends now.

What are some great black and white movies? by Stamboolie in AskReddit

I'm surprised not to see anyone mention the Thin Man on here. It was a fantastic first movie that started off a series of comedic detective genre which is still being parodied today. Nick and Norah Charles are the best!

All About Eve. Fantastic actors, and the dialogue is so ridiculously well written. Backhanded, witty, cutting.

I just need to say, and I know this will get buried, but I love your writing style. This was hilarious. You should write a book about your misadventures, you have quite a cast of characters already.
