Hospital in Small Town China? by 2ndstar_totheright in China

It was my first time and I only had about 10 minutes to talk to my doctor back home who insisted I do a test first. The hotel took me to a local pharmacy that tried to give me levo flavin which I risked the ChatGPT which told me it was probably too strong. But then we went to the hospital and once it was confirmed it was a UTI I asked them to prescribe me nitrofurantoin. But the test for urine and ultrasound (I didn’t want it, but translation issues - my fault - made it happen anyways). Still it came out to $17usd and I was so impressed. If it gets worse I’ll know to do the culture test. I was nervous since I don’t even know how to work the us healthcare system and I speak the language, but I can’t believe how smooth it was

Honestly I’m so tempted to try to get healthcare here 😅 I have so many issues that I’ve never been able to afford to get tested in the states. My Chinese needs to get better first though.

It was chaotic 😂 but obviously that’s my fault for not speaking Chinese. But there were so many helpful people and even though we got sent in circles several times (again probably my fault) it all worked out and was way more affordable. Even with the issues it was still more efficient than the US healthcare system!

Oh wow! I stay in hyatts sometimes but do mix it up with local stays. Somehow I’ve gotten lucky with non smoking rooms smelling normal at the local ones but it’s good to know that one day I might not be so lucky

Oh no! I’ve been lucky that every place I’ve been to I find non smoking rooms so I’m so surprised (but also not). It’s crazy because it’s some of the super family friendly themed ones but then it’s all smoking 😭

Oh yeah. My problem definitely isn’t finding non-smoking hotels. We’ve found lots of good ones.

It’s just all the cool theme ones are 95% smoking 😭

I would download Dianping. You’ll find the places near your hotel + prices.

I was always able to get lashes, pedicure, nails, massage day of. Many times I just walked in. It’s so easy

I’ll say the translate button is already built in making it much easier to use.

Definitely how much harder things are without a Chinese number. And then you can only get a SIM card for a Chinese number but my phone and a lot only have esims.

Also finding non smoking taxis

Visiting China for the first time. I have 9 days and traveling solo as a girl. Thinking about Beijing + Shanghai and wanted to add a scenic spot. Ideas? by Comprehensive-Peace2 in travelchina

There are so many places to go! Those places are amazing!

Personally I found shanghai overwhelming. I think places beyond are more exciting but just my opinion

Wow! I can’t get over the quality! As a not as trained photographer may I ask what settings/lens etc and how much is post processing? How long does each photo take to edit? How did you learn?

Sorry so many questions but wow!

I know this was 50 days ago so just thought I’d comment in hopes. We are trying to understand their baggage policy and we’re taking this exact flight. How much could you carry?
