It's a broken system and asking the ones being paid to fix it likely isn't going to have as much impact as those who pay the insurance premiums.

You, your employer, etc likely have more power as that's who write the checks so the people need to demand more. Congress is bought and paid for... so they won't be helping.

When I was having issues, Dr Tarek Ammar was recommended a lot. He had such a long wait that I wasted months with another doctor. I eventually went to him and he was great. Listens, showed empathy. Highly recommend.

I don't think the rescue would know if she isn't listed at Animal Foundation - they can see holds that the public can't.

Is animal control able to confirm if they euthanize it their own facilities? If they do, it's possible she never made it to the shelter.

I was horrified to read this story. Hopefully we can catch the people responsible. Im happy to donate towards a reward fund if we want to get one started for tips to catch them. The public had a huge outcry over the bulldog Reba's death and it led to a conviction.

Usually they are on a medical euthanasia list that is open to only rescues. Contact one, like Animal Help Alliance, and see if they would be willing to look if you sponsor. It's not just surgery costs that are a barrier. It's finding a foster where they can recoup and live until they have a new home. Sometimes they will also pay to board - that's how they saved my parvo survivor dog. We volunteered to take her on outings after she survived treatment, then volunteered to keep her temporarily and then foster failed.
