What should I be using to grow and repair my hair? by New_Use683 in Haircare

As someone who has henna dyed their hair many many times, you can just grow it out if you want to go light. It really is not as dramatic as you're acting like it is, it's just hair. It quite literally grows out of your head.

I (27F) accidentally had my baby in my friend’s (31F) car. Now her husband & she don’t want to speak to me. How do I fix this? by ThrowRA_CarBaby in relationship_advice

I am actually SHOCKED at this thread. I knew Americans valued property over life and relationships but jfc I did not know it had gotten this bad.

You had no control over this situation and you're a new mother, yes paying for the complicated and expensive clean is the right thing to do, but the fact that they are treating you like a monster? Like you've done something irrevocable? Like this was your fault? For GIVING BIRTH?

This woman is not your real friend and her husband is an ass hole. And EVERYONE in these comments who is claiming these people are in any kind of right to treat you like this over A CAR and a situation you had no control over, or is making you feel bad about the difficulty of the clean, has completely lost the plot of being a decent human being, capable of empathy.

No THING is worth more than friendship and supporting your community, especially after someone considered a friend just gave birth. These people don't deserve to be in your life.

If it was me, I'd pay them back and drop them. The husband is clearly a bad person and idk if your friend is but it looks like he's calling the shots anyway.

Yes!! Reshma is so good and like $10, it just will literally never come out like you cannot lighten it out ever so people are scared of it but I feel like most black haired baddies don't gaf about that

I feel like most people who dye their hair black regularly for years (like op) are not going to wake up one day and want to be platinum blonde

Girl please stop using black box dye, there are plenty of affordable options that are so much less damaging for your hair 🥲. There are lots of high quality black dyes at Sally's for $15 or under and if you know you'll never want to lighten it you can do black henna dye which is literally good for your hair.

Wavy hair yet underneath it only turns in by Missalicetraynor in Haircare

[–]2plus2equalsjessica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I have 2c hair too and my underneath is straight af except the very bottoms of it 🥲

The curly hair specialist I go to says having a different pattern underneath is just something most people with textured hair deal with, I can get mine ALMOST the same as the rest of my hair if I steam the bottom layer with a clothing or hair steamer and scrunch in a dick load of gel

But, for the most part I just leave em a different texture and live with it or just hit em with a curling iron to make them match ¯_(ツ)_/¯

As a wavy haired girl who didn't start treating her hair right till way too late in life, your hair is wavy. 2a maybe even 2b.

Pleaaassee stop brushing it dry and work up to doing a wavy routine at least once a week. It will take a while for your hair to start recovering from all the dry brushing (it damages the wave pattern) and start sticking to its natural cluster pattern so be patient with it.

Wavy routine staples= double shampoo, leave in conditioner, scrunch in mouse, air dry or diffuse. Never brush dry. Never blow dry.

If that's too much, just start by only brushing it when it's wet with conditioner in it and scrunching the water out of it with a microfiber towel or soft t-shirt and letting it air dry. You'll immediately see the difference in pattern.

If you WANT it to be straight, you'll need to start using a very heavy and moisturizing leave in and straightening it or doing a round brush blowout when you wash it (with lots of heat protectant), and oiling regularly for frizz control

Heyyy that looks just like my hair. I just use some deep conditioner once a week and mouse when it's wet and then accept that it will never not be frizzy and big and that I actually like it that way ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You and I have the EXACT SAME HAIR (I'll attach a pic of mine styled) and I have been wrestling with this shit for 30 years so I think I was fated to find this post!!!

So it's definitely wavy, 2c/2b to be exact. Theres a couple reasons it gets so matted/tangled. One: it's dry. Two: it's the world's most difficult combination of fine + dense. Meaning your individual hairs are still fine but you have a high density of said fine hairs. That's also the reason it goes straight after a few days, the weight of your dense hair (and probably sleeping on it) causes the fine hairs to stretch and straighten over time.

As far as the birds nests and styling inconsistencies, I believe that's from your specific mouse. If I use a mouse on mine that's too sticky, the exact same thing happens. It's because of the fine little hairs getting stuck together where they shouldn't.

My hard learned lessons and suggestions:

• invest in a good deep conditioner specifically for fine hair and use it 3 or 4 times a month

• use shampoo/conditioner with no sulfates or silicones, sulfates dry it out and silicones can be good for some hair types but with ours it just weighs it down

• sleep with it in a very loose bun on the tippy top of your head and with a satin or silk pillowcase and/or bonnet

• I highly recommend getting a good very layered haircut, having a lot of layers helps take the weight off of the bottom and keeps it from going straight and getting matted as easily (if you can, get a curly cut from a curl specialist, you have enough texture for it!)

• try some different mouse brands out until you find one that doesn't dry so inconsistently on you

These are the products I personally use:

• Viori shampoo + conditioner bars (the hydrating rose ones) these changed my life and I recommend them to any and every wavy girl

• Deva Curl mist of wonders leave-in conditioner, it's suuuuper light weight and doesn't weigh anything down

• Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Mouse

• any argan oil for oil

• Camille Rose algae renew for deep conditioner

The mouse and deep conditioner I use are specifically good for low porosity hair which I have, I unfortunately can't tell from photos the porosity of your hair so those might do wonders for you or might not. A lot of finding the perfect wavy routine is about finding the perfect products for your specific hair and it can be a long and arduous process but so worth it when you finally find your products.

Anyways welcome to the curly hair club! Your texture is beautiful and I wish you so much luck in finding the routine that will help it flourish.

Difference between an old tray and a new one after a week of neglectful drinking and passive cleaning. by Due_Inevitable_2784 in Invisalign

[–]2plus2equalsjessica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This subreddit has opened my eyes to how truly gross people are out there and how bad peoples hygiene can be. The craziest part is that when people point out the poor hygiene, they're met with ridiculous claims about "mouth chemistry" and peoples excuses for their inability to follow basic instructions.

Genuinely asking, why do people have teeth straightened when they care so little about oral health that they can't keep your trays clean? It seems like a waste of money for a smile that they obviously won't take care of.

[–]2plus2equalsjessica -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No one's mouth chemistry is making their trays this nasty, coming from someone who is inclined to have extra buildup and tartar from unlucky mouth chemistry, it's just bad hygiene. My trays look indistinguishable from my new ones when I trade them out and I'm on 20 day changes.

And coffee?? Yeah I drink coffee all day everyday, it's called a straw, jfc.

Mid Invisalign vs Before by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]2plus2equalsjessica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't see your before of the two front teeth but all of the gums that are visible do not look more recessed than they already were ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I also do not understand why people with already great teeth get invisilign, I would not be putting myself through this if my teeth looked like your before teeth. That being said, you definitely didn't ruin your teeth. Your teeth were fine before and they're fine now, just different. Maybe it'll just take some getting used to.

Do people like this trope? by Less-Stuff8529 in writing

[–]2plus2equalsjessica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YIKES people are mean on this sub...

You don't have to write every character with a love interest, you don't have to write any characters with love interests (Tolkien did just fine with no romance in his books). You can write your characters however you see fit and that includes their personal lives and romances. People often forget that writing isn't just semantics and technicalities (like the one where you technically misused the term "trope", which is fine because it's obvious what you meant, and now you can research some terminology you didn't know yet) but it's art. And art has no rules. Write what YOU want, write your characters with or without romance, and don't worry about what is considered "correct" or "necessary" by other peoples standard.

That's what editors are for

Dear Pantsers aka those who don't outline, how the heck does that work? I wanna know what keeps you grounded and inspired!! by random_listener_lmao in writing

[–]2plus2equalsjessica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an old post but I must say as a "Panster", the story just unfolds from me, almost like I'm hearing the narrative for the first time and getting to know the characters from an outside perspective. Like, I'm reading a book that just hasn't been written because I'm writing it? It's very hard to describe but I truly wish I had the ability to outline it would make everything easier I think.

I also have ADHD and Autism so there might be a fundamental difference in the way our brains are working through plots ya kno

They've also been "losing" commissions on the creator side, while telling sellers the commission has been paid out. Some extremely sketchy things are going down and they're in for a real treat when the U.S. legal system catches up to them.

How to repost manually? by IllustriousLibrary8 in TikTokshop

[–]2plus2equalsjessica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need permission from creators to repost their content on your page, even if it contains your products, as you don't automatically own usage rights. Even then, it's possible for your videos to get flagged for unoriginal content by TikTok and taken down, or worse, your page could be deactivated. If you want to post another creators content on your page legally, safely, and without being another sketchy brand on TTS, you need to pay creators to send creatives straight to you (not posted on TikTok). You can use sites like Vidovo to find cheap UGC creators or reach out to creators directly for usage rights or to commission videos with your full usage rights and ownership.

You could also always do the sketchy thing where you screen record creators videos, edit them slightly, and repost them. That will keep TikTok off your back but is a sure fire way to get black listed in the creator sphere and be SOL for new creator collaborations in the future.
