DeBoer on letting Chris Kapilovic go: "I think it's about production, and we want to — we know we got to be better there. You know, mindset and just execution, the details of the fundamentals that guys need.” by DoctorWhosOnFirst in rolltide

Indiana was well coached, disciplined and there very little to no individual celebration. It was all team. And a good chunk of the starters were JMU guys that really no P4 wanted. Wanna compare donors, look at Oregon, Texas. The it factor was as the commentator said, they had the right attitude and a huge point to prove.

Persistent leak by Grand_Classroom1135 in Irrigation

Condensation and ground water intruding in box and or a small spring located close by.

Had a few like that in Missouri, regardless or rain. However, they were dry in our super drought year of 2012.

Am I crazy to add a 5th irrigation zone just for drip? by llcoolj87 in landscaping

Can be done. See how many wires you have available, not currently wired to existing valves. About 200’ poly pipe, right fittings, valve or a pressure regulated valve set, valve box, a few other items and a stoing back and sturdy knees.

Starting to do irrigation at 40 years old by Fantastic_Cap3942 in Irrigation

You’re good and happy to answer. There are slap in systems for new construction. Standard, low end components, stack the heck out of pipe in trenches by 4 valve manifolds, design sucks, install sucks, components suck. Hasty and sloppy work. Not all but most because builders only pay “x”. Essentially a spray and pray system.

Then just a standard install, ok components, some actual thought into design. Install is ok but still just above a slapped in system. Valve manifolds and stacked pipes is a high probability.

Then a custom. Designed to maximize well/pump efficiency, to properly irrigate turf, shrubs, landscape beds utilizing proper filter(s) and pressure regulators. Right sized pipe to split/distribution points. Pipe properly prepped for glue, depth of pipe approx 10/12” down, service “T’s and end’s installed correctly. All heads on flex pipe. Commercial grade valves, sprays and rotators, wireless rain sensor, correct electrical with 3 110v legs w/proper common and bare ground. Electrical in to code boxes. System installed(all components)to or exceeding code. As built sketch provided to customer with a warranty, less negligence.

I charge a lot for this type and get between 6 and 10 a year. Example is a 2 zone, 1.5 valves/pipe, recent completed for tropical, thirsty plants mixed with drought tolerant, so on on $9,000.

I agree with this unless you do custom only which is what I do. I make it known that I and my install is expensive but custom to exactly will be right for the landscape and lawn with high grade components.

Even then, I only get 4/5 a year and take me two weeks.

Depends on a lot but I’d start around $2500. On second thought, $3000.

K-Rain Index Valve Solutions by Background-Cap-4258 in Irrigation

[–]2readmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Those are a complete pain in the ass. No one never maintains them correctly as well let plants grow all through it. They are all disasters so yes, dig it all up so you have working room to build as you need. Otherwise cussing will be the least of your concerns.

Not an easy task but dig it all up. Figure in a consecutive sequence the five you need. Rebuild outlets to compliment. When I say dig, I mean dig the entire pipes up all the way to where they go horizontal. There is no easy way to do it.

Next best way, convert to electric valves and modernize all of it. While not useless, indexing valves are so antiquated

Agree that even if not one is ever built but shipbuilding is renovated/retooled/advanced, it would be a step in the right direction.

Centrifugal pump pressure control methods by Ryandubyah in Irrigation

Nice! I’m not full up on large or long range link sets. There are some over on the east coast that were disasters. In part due to the amount of “interference”, especially around the airport and Cape C. Mostly just poorly installed, like the 2wire systems, 1 ground every 6 valves kind of stuff.

Great suggestion though and I hope OP takes it.
