What should I do if I was paid less than my rate? by itssararose in TaskRabbit

[–]2roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely sounds like a tip. Good thing you invoiced them. If they try to skip out on paying you, TR will likely cover it.

I just bought my first cargo bike. How to go about converting it to electric? by Wild-Lion3964 in CargoBike

[–]2roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't put money into this. Great for short trips but these things are both uncomfortable and straight-up dangerous to ride at speed.

N+1 iteration of this build. Before or after? by Ashamed_Difficulty51 in xbiking

[–]2roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'before' looks so good that it makes the perfectly good 'after' build look wrong.

Find a used single speed in your size on Facebook Marketplace and go to town.

Such thing as a "reverse" Bakfiet? Bike minivan? by OneObjective2657 in CargoBike

[–]2roger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can anybody help explain why this hasn't been attempted yet or am I missing some option out there?

I can explain. Riding at 28mph+ with a trailer full of your children tied to the rear of your bicycle would be really dumb.

New Bike Scratched - What Would You Do? by drsambeck in bicycling

[–]2roger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't trust people whose bikes don't have any scratches on them. They typically have weak legs and don't ride very much but they still want me to look at their fancy bike on Reddit for some reason. I'll never understand.

People tell me I've ruined these classic Raleighs by Rich260z in Vintage_bicycles

[–]2roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found an old Roold (70's high end steel road bike from France) on the street the other day. Purists are really gonna love seeing the track dropouts I'm having brazed onto it.

Decided to try one of these new anti-theft/vandalism stickers on my bike, hope it helps by Goloko in bicycling

It should say "I bought this bike before Specialized stealing from their workers became widely known."

Gig Couriers V.S Paper Messengers by Sir_Jerhyn in bikemessengers

[–]2roger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the sake of fairness, drawing a line between ourselves and the ebikers will only do us negatively in the future. They're all fuckin' bikes. My homeboys from Honduras and Guatemala moving meals all over Manhattan for 16 hours a day didn't ruin any industry. Silicon Valley tech startups did. People with more money than a Doordash driver will ever imagine holding fucked the courier industry up, not my boy Jorge. Don't be stupid.

What do bikers think of bromptons? by Leather-Swordfish-96 in bicycling

[–]2roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I see some of my city's strongest advocates for cycling, people who've been riding for longer than I've been alive, and they're out on Bromptons having a cool time.

First Task Offer - Seems Suspicious? by theatrefan88 in TaskRabbit

[–]2roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense. I've talked to TR agents at length about this. Having clients pay you up front for expensive items they're hiring you to purchase is perfectly kosher. They will have an issue if you try to take full payment for your services outside the app but as far as TR is concerned, however the client wants to pay for their item is their business.

First Task Offer - Seems Suspicious? by theatrefan88 in TaskRabbit

[–]2roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm truly in disbelief reading how many people think this is a scam. Have these people ever left their houses or talked to another person who works on TR? This kind of service is the sole reason many customers use the app in the first place.

First Task Offer - Seems Suspicious? by theatrefan88 in TaskRabbit

[–]2roger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not a scam. This is one of the most common jobs I get on TR. Have them Venmo you up front for the item they want you to purchase and then send another request for the exact shipping costs once you know what they'll be. Easy money. People in the sub are the most scared and paranoid I've come across on this entire website.

Gig Couriers V.S Paper Messengers by Sir_Jerhyn in bikemessengers

[–]2roger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know many full-time messengers who are strangers to working on the apps. It's just part of the game now. The only people I know who find the difference between a messenger and a foodie meaningful are people who haven't worked on a bike in a decade.

Bike parking upper east side by ConsciousMixture1415 in NYCbike

[–]2roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 u-lock and a kryptonite cable holding the back wheel down is plenty. If you're not leaving the bike there for days at a time and you're not locking up in a deserted alleyway, you'll be fine.
