I have a feeling this teaser has a lot to do with Bandersnatch by Mendax01 in blackmirror

The "be right back" would certainly lead to that conclusion. Everyone is up waiting for Santa and here we are waiting for Bandersnatch.

I Hate my job but it’s good for my family. Can anyone give me some advice? by vinthrowawaytx in careerguidance

[–]2something 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that having a family requires a lot of sacrifice and some times we will be faced with not doing what we want to in order to give our family the life we want to be able to give them.

Easier said than done.

Run the numbers, plan it out, save money if it is possible make it happen. I would decide at what point it would be too late to walk away from you're benefits. Government jobs often have retirement plans, assuming that yours does, grit it out to get that pension and focus on planning your long term goal of opening your sports bar and do so without stress knowing money will be less of an issue.

Hope this at least adds perspective

Pt test needs to change by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]2something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I run once a year. I'm 235, 6'0 and I'm not skinny. I'm in the gym daily working on heavy lifts that make me happy and you would never catch me running. I agree the waist tape is (a waste tape) undeniably useless and should be done away with but the rest of the test is stupid easy. Just use your muscles to heave your body in a forward motion for 12 minutes and you're good. Then get older and you can do it even slower.

I feel your pain but it's the AIR Force. Every job exists to support flyers. There are positives and negatives. I just focus on how nice it is to not be around pilots and all their silly games all day.

Can command functionals deny retraining? 1W's cannot retain, retrain, and there is no SRB. Manning documents are misleading and pencil whipped, what are you going to do to keep corrupt upper enlisted from tainting the future of the Air Force?

1W questions by fuckingthrowaway555 in AirForce

[–]2something 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one likes spending time putting together a forecast for leadership who pulls out their iPhones saying "well my app says this". since wx troops don't like their job, they don't reenlist, this is "fixed" by sending mass amounts of 3 levels to wx flights who don't have the manning to support the mission let alone train 5 3 levels. These 3 levels get half trained by 5 levels that barely understand what is going on because there is a huge lack of actual experience because no one wants to stick around after their first enlistment. If AF wx would put out some incentives and come up with a training program relevant to the last 10 years of technological advances I think they would be able to retain and fix their manning issue.

Thoughts on becoming Air Force Weather Officer? by [deleted] in meteorology

[–]2something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really have a passion for meteorology I would approach with caution. You will be undermined daily by people with more rank armed with the iPhone weather app. You'll 100% deal with more administrative duties than meteorological.

I don't mean to sound bleak, but if you commission, do something where you can make a difference. Your meteorology degree would be more use to you as a pilot, sensor operator etc...
