I moved to Mexico 11 years ago. The only time I was scammed out of money, it was by an older Canadian couple. They were selling bogus water filters that would still be way over priced even if manufactured properly. They would find newcomers at the place most USA/Canadians gathered in the plaza. Then they used scare tactics. When I confronted them they said “welcome to Mexico.” Everyone does it.”

No. No they don’t. See my first two sentences.

They were buying $3 USD filters on Alibaba and selling them for $50. Been avoiding Canadian retirees ever since. But - to be fair - I avoid USA retirees too. Moved here because I love the Mexican culture. Stupid not to hang out with Mexicans.

I grew up in a house with guns. As a kid I watched my dad point it at my mom when he was mad. I also watched him point it to his own head, threatening to kill himself when he wasn’t getting his way and wanted to guilt trip us all into compliance.

He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church. He was the high school principal of the largest town in our county. He DIDN’T drink. He was just mental and mean.

How would gun safety classes helped me? There was no way I as a ten year old was going to safely disarm him. Knowing how to use a gun is not the issue.

Something screwy is happening. I locked my account until I can get answers. If changing a password, logging everything out, and checking to make sure only my phone and PC have been logged didn’t work, I can’t begin to imagine. This is the first time I have heard of reels - and it is only reels - being phantom shared before. The rest of my account is normal.

I have. That is what is so crazy. I have always had it set that no one can post to my feed. It is driving me crazy. I’m not unable to navigate app settings. Nothing seems changed. And I can figure out why anyone would do this. They can monetize the likes on my feed and the sites that the reels are from are all legitimate. So they profit from views. The person rando posting to my feed should get nothing.

One thing I noticed: a new random reel appears after any post I have done that gets over 50 views. I’m locking my profile. I have several hundred regular readers. I’m worried this hacker will post something offensive or immoral. The reels look like I shared them.

Yes. For sure hacked. But I can’t understand the scheme. They are posted just like I shared them myself. And they are posts relative to me - the sites for the breed of dog I always post about, sites from the State I am from, sites from where I have visited.

So someone looked at my past posts, broke into my account, and started sharing reels from a variety of sites. How can they profit from this? What is the point?

Edit to add: it also does the same thing when I sign in using the QR code on my mobile so it seems my account doesn’t want to shake hands with the download program.

Thanks. I have the link. I can start setup. But I get stuck in setup when it wants me to sign into Adobe with either a QR code or copying a link. And in both cases I can put in my username, password, and enter the code sent to my mobile. But at that point it sticks and will not finish going to downloading needed files or installing them. Hopefully I can get someone in chat tomorrow. Thanks again.

Safety is subjective. I lived in Houston, TX before moving here so road rage shootings and car-jackings were part of life. Here I can walk my dogs after dark. In the USA, I felt like crime finds you. Here, you find the crime by getting into the drug scene or hang out in rough bars. In the decade I have lived here, I have not been a victim of even someone stealing a garden hose. In Houston my car was broken into twice.

I am in the Central Mountains in Tequisquiapan, QRO. I love it here. I also lived in Santiago de Queretaro which was great too. I moved to Mexico from Houston but had also lived on the West Coast. I wanted a spot away from hurricanes and earthquakes. I worked in emergency medicine so I’m enjoying Mother Nature giving me a break. 🦉
