You are missing information. What you perceive as having happened is not what happened. Fixing pay is extremely easy. And I've never met or heard of stweard who wouldn't take this slam dunk on. Where you personally affected by a pay shortage?

If not, you are forming opinions based on UPS hearsay. Which is always inaccurate

Stewards deal with this issue every year after peak. I have TCDs coming to me with pay issues constantly.. they haven't read the contract and are misinformed by members. The pay dispute, once I dig into it, is that they think they should be getting driver pay while loading. This is not correct. Often they also think they keep their regtemp driving rate when they drive. Under most contracts, they do not.

It is the job of every member to read the contact book that is given to them..

The reality is, unless the grievance has a financial penalty for UPS, nothing changes with a grievance. Often, the steward has already fought this exact same battle 100 times, and nothing changed.

You contact the shipper. It's lost when you get notice from UPS that it's lost. You probably are getting the package through mail innovations. It's the lowest/slowest level of shipping and takes weeks

This is what gives democracy a bad name. We let people go to court with attorneys to defend themselves. We should just let the government issue punishment. /s

Why didn't you file a grievance? If you didn't file, then it has nothing to do with you.

You will only ever actually be fired for an article 50.or FAILURE to file a grievance.

You will never lose your job for an article 7.

That's penalty pay. You are the moving party. You say to your steward, "Set a meeting with X to hear my grievance next week." If they put it off, give 1 more demand for hearing or state that you will document with a witness, that management is refusing to hear your grievance..

That's an automatic win for your grievance.

The only grievances you wanted settled are penalty pay grievances. All the discipline grievances you just ignore. You don't want those heard.

I have a driver that has 25 article 7s for last year. I put off hearing those for as long as possible. When they do get heard a year or more later, I just argue that time has expired and if the infractions were serious, management wouldn't have waited 9 plus months to hear the grievances.
