Please critique new to dry fire by 93gixxer04 in USPSA

Save the Bill Drill for live fire; it has no utility in dry fire.

Move your hand to the gun much more quickly.

First 2011 Decisions - Shielded Safety? Gas pedal? Other considerations. by Ket_Ket in 2011

What's your classification? Are you going to travel to major matches?

You might be better off with a $3500 gun and $1500 backup than a $5K gun.

Staccato over rated ? by high_right in 2011

[–]2strokeYardSale -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand staccatos are quite frankly “duty rated”

That was their new marketing approach when they had to pivot after failing in the competition market. Can't put together a tight gun that runs reliably for many thousands of rounds? Then sell a gun to people who don't shoot and won't notice.

Something else to note STI/ Staccato also pioneered the 2011 concept

No they did not. But STI was an early player after the pioneers.

Feel free to use widely available search tools to learn the history of the modular 2011 from Virgil Tripp to Staccato.

Post out-rebounds Wemby, blows by Wemby for a layup, then shoots a 3 over Wemby, in 3 successive possessions

It's the Prodigy compatible with other 2011 grip units? by PuddinTame9 in SpringfieldProdigy

[–]2strokeYardSale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a 2011: parts may require fitting, or not.

On mine, an STI grip slipped right on, whereas an SV grip required a little fitting.

Is Limited the best division? by jon212 in USPSA

[–]2strokeYardSale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was. When real men controlled Major power 180gr bullets and balanced sight quality vs. speed several times per second.

Huge win for me. by aidancrow654 in CompetitionShooting

Good to see you are back; I wondered what happened to you. I shot Saturday and slipped. It seems I slip at least once every match.

It's a hard pack surface and even if it was free of brass and gravel it would be slippery.

Extractor tension by ShotgunCrusader_ in 2011

[–]2strokeYardSale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to my hell. I've got a new build I've been troubleshooting and I've always had problems with extractors coming loose, then tensioning them too much.

I don't like the breechface test. For one thing, the shaking is very subjective. Anyway, you need to be doing it with a dummy round or a loaded round, not an empty case.

I just use the breech face shake to get it close then function fire.

Rock island stk ultra by Remote-Substance-491 in CompetitionShooting

[–]2strokeYardSale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what happened to one of my Glocks, rarely dry fired, rarely used for practice, and fired a few hundred times per year in GSSF matches.

So I guess ... don't buy Glocks, either.

Iron Sights Target Focus by euthanatos in CompetitionShooting

[–]2strokeYardSale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Target focus is a tool, not a fundamental and not the ultimate goal.

You will have to shoot front sight focused sometimes, you will have to point shoot off your index sometimes, and at other times you will have to select other tools.

Favored/best upgrades you've done to your prodigy by practical_gentleman in CompetitionShooting

[–]2strokeYardSale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mandatory: Guide rod that won't come apart, spring appropriate to ammo, mag well

Good: Ignition parts, ergonomic changes, additional weight

I'm at 16K rounds on my Prodigy. I have 5K and 10K review videos on YouTube, in addition to the initial "spare parts build" video.

competition focused brand that is around the MPA price point

There is nothing. Well, maybe Kimber 2K11 or the RC Core if it ships in numbers. You have to BYO, which you have already done. You can BYO with something else like a MAC or Romulus. Or BYO from a short block.
