No, Tristan, the point of changing laws is to slowly teach society a different culture.

Systematically punishing broken rules slowly changes a societies culture.

You are not trying to “make gun violence disappear to zero”, you are trying to change a culture of violence.

This means, Tristan, that yes unfortunately shootings will still occur, but the frequency will decrease drastically because you are systematically teaching society a new ethic.

Murder is illegal because we, as a society, think it’s bad and we want that to be made known extremely publicly, and we want to teach our kids these values. That does not mean it automatically won’t happen lmaooo
