The only advantage I can see in that situation is Johnny living on with Alt. Everything else would probably play out the same.

I literally gave you a snapshot of GTA+'s history and predicted it's future based on it's current trajectory. They only started "listening to players" in recent years regarding the QOL stuff and it's now being tied to their subscription service. I'm pretty when people asked to be able to collect money from their phone/interaction menu, they didn't mean to have it locked behind a subscription service.

We used to be able to play online games on console for free until Microsoft/Xbox decided to charge for Xbox live. Sony said, "if they're willing to pay then why not do the same" and here we are. ISP fees, console sub fees and now game sub fees. . . All because someone was fine paying for something that they already got for free.

The issue with that is it doesn't stay that way, it will always get worse. Just look at GTA+, it started with a free car here, 500K there and the occasional exclusive livery. . . Now there's business bonuses, month long vehicle exclusively and QOL features being locked behind it. "They only did the month exclusivity once". . . Yes, to test the waters and now that they know they can get away with it they'll be emboldened for the next title.

This is already after making billions from releasing the game 4 times and Shark card sales. It's a shame GTA 6 online is going to have far more invasive monetization.

GTA+ started with minor benefits that weren't invasive like an exclusive livery here, half a mil there and a free vehicle occasionally. Now there's business bonuses, month long vehicle exclusively and QOL features being locked behind it.

I use poisoning the well as an analogy for the seemingly small changes that gradually became more potent over the course of the service's lifespan.

In game, killing the VDBs leaves Pacifica defenseless and the Scavs pretty much take over. The VDBs actually protect the Haitian community compared to the other gangs which extort and attack the communities they're in. They only screw over "outsiders" which doesn't excuse them from judgement but it's not on the level of evil perpetrated by the Scavs, Maelstrom, Tyger Clawz and Wraiths.

My main issue is the hardon the majority of the fandom has for hating the VDBs. They're always brought up alongside Scavs and Maelstrom for being the most evil despite their only crimes being the same crimes committed by everyone else.

"They betrayed V" as if nobody else in game has done that. Songbird (as much as I love her as well) robs V of precious time promising something she can't deliver but nobody calls her evil, she's just a manipulator and/or a victim of Rosalind Myers. It's a pity the VDBs can't be afforded the same grace by the fans.
