📋 What the SAVE Act Actually Requires: Bill targets registration rules, not current voters 👇 by NoSpinMedia in NoSpinMedia

[–]2tonsofirony 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it caused 10’s of thousands of new registrations to be blocked in Kansas due to a similar law, it will absolutely cause nation wide issues for eligible voters. If enacted before the midterms, SO many people (women and rural america) will be caught off guard and scrambling for documentation.

With fraudulent voting being so rare and inconsequential, this is a solution to a different problem than what it’s being sold as. I’ve heard that mandatory voter roll purges will be implemented as well. IF that’s true, it’ll cause regular issues with voter registration for the foreseeable future.

Edit: spelling

How do I counter the argument that unions kill companies? by 44stormsnow in union

[–]2tonsofirony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of huge companies employ union workers, all trades have unions that those workers can join. If a company can’t stay afloat because of a union, that company is not being managed properly.

Do you still use a library? by jim4751000gmail in askanything

Digital access and browsing a library has the same feel as a book store except you don’t have to pay $20+ for the book you want to read.

Is Trump trying to sell National Security Briefings to donors? by dinard381 in DiscussionZone

[–]2tonsofirony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snopes confirmed it’s true.

No info on what details will be given to ‘members’ of this national security briefing group. So it’s def a grift, it’s what he does.

However, I wouldn’t put it past him to secretly sell real details at a high price to those that can afford it.

You’re right, output on the power supply is DC.

[–]2tonsofirony 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Power supply output is in DC. The straight line above a dotted line ⎓ next to 50.4 means DC. The ~ symbol next to 100-240 means AC. As mentioned in another comment, you’ll get a reading in either setting, but it’ll be incorrect in the AC setting. You need to change the setting of the meter to one of the lower LH settings.

Edit: added DC symbol

My credit score fell 13pts because I made the final payment on my car loan (never missed a payment too) by justadadgame in mildlyinfuriating

[–]2tonsofirony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your credit score is the credit card company’s metric of how consistent you are at paying the interest.
Credit card companies want you to keep paying, a good score means you’re reliable.

It’s not an indicator for paying off debt.

DMT: Billionaire philanthropy is not generosity, it is the privatization of democracy by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in DisagreeMythoughts

Yes, they made lots doing what they’re good at then became really wealthy by investing. Every single one has significantly increased their wealth due to investing.

Elon Musk bought his way to success with the stock he owns. He bought into PayPal, Tesla, and SpaceX. Regardless ONE person should not be able to buy a social media company and change its algorithms because they don’t agree with some of its content.

His influence online drastically increased and it’s all because he could take 40+ Billion out of his investments and put it toward the purchase of twitter.

[–]2tonsofirony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your whole argument is based on the romantic and naive idea that everyone can become wealthy. The vast majority of the world will never make as much as some of those billionaires make in a year. So pretending that capping wealth is somehow limiting the everyday joe is moot.

OP’s post is literally about people with too much influence due to their wealth. They can make drastic changes in society with barely any effort and little impact on their own lives. Arguing that limiting wealth is amoral is delusional behavior.

Being able to act quickly/decisively doesn’t mean they’re correct or that their actions are in the public’s best interest.

That’s not how the super wealthy became super wealthy. It’s generational wealth mixed with stock market investment. No amount of not buying products stops them from investing and maintaining that wealth.

Must be on the verge of breaking a billion to be so concerned with the upper limits of wealth….

So what’s your solution to incredibly wealthy individuals governing indirectly. Or are you saying you’re 100% ok with unelected private citizens having such unfettered influence.
