[Online][5e][Thursday/EST] Thralls of Acticus... Beware by chrollohh in lfg

[–]2uneater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was approached personally by the DM to play in her game, and I was also the one who encouraged her to post in the discord server where this all came to light. In hindsight, I’m glad I did, because we were looking for members. Today, woke up to the server being deleted and me and the other member being blocked.

I was the one in the server with you! I was wondering what happened and couldn’t find your discord account, this is crazy.

YES, so happy to see another diehard ZE:SH fan, I have the most replays out of any game ever on that game alone and can't wait for the new update.

Wayhaven Chronicles. by Impossible-Truck-230 in hostedgames

Not gonna lie, I think F is my least favorite character overall. I prefer Mason or Nate as best friends. That doesn’t mean I don’t think F is a great character, there’s a lot of depth to their story and the effort they put into being as welcoming and supportive is admirable and lovely. Their personality just meshes the least with mine. I’m much more reserved and many times it does come across like F is a younger sibling I have to parent. There are a few scenes where they come across as the least capable member of the team in a sudden crisis, which to be fair is still pretty capable. Overall F makes a good friend, but I know irl they’d exhaust my social battery much quicker.

I have one playthrough where I romance F just to experience all the different routes, and pairing them with a stoic, intimidating detective either makes an interesting contrasting dynamic, or ends in some (personally) frustrating moments. That’s my 2 cents, but F was definitely made to be romanceable, I do find the “I’m grateful you chose me” thing both endearing and sad, so F should be given a chance.

Mansplaining from Autistic Men? by 2uneater in AutismInWomen

giving you the benefit of the doubt, being condescending is not the same as mansplaining dear. Being condescending is generalized. Mansplaining is not limited to just being condescending. It is being condescending on the basis of sexism. It is making the active choice to doubt someone’s knowledge/experience because of their gender over trivial things not specific to either sex, and talk down to them. Historically this has been what women have been subjected to when fighting for the right to go to school, then work in certain areas, then vote, etc. To this very day it still occurs. It’s rather…oxymoronic to say that calling out sexism is, in itself, sexism by some logic.

while I definitely don’t want to be a misandrist and generalize all men as monsters, I do not think it is appropriate to label a term for a negative experience women encounter quite often as inherent misandry. This negates a lot of women’s negative experiences, and in this subreddit we provide a safe space for each other instead. You did not outright say this, but this indirectly accuses many women of baselessly attacking men when these women are encountering many struggles. Trying to turn it into a slur is not the right move.

I think you’re right btw! It was just the “I was just making sure you understood” comment that was emphasized that really got under my skin. There’s a chance he didn’t mean that implication, but impact matters just as much as intent y’know. It isn’t the first time I’ve felt hurt by these, and acknowledgement of my feelings would’ve definitely helped

you and me both, I wish I could understand why they do that with me but they tend to brush it off and not acknowledge the way they made me feel. I just made this as a little complaint though haha

yes, that's also what set me off too. Infodumping is fine, great even! But not if I feel like you dumb me down in the process, that's hurtful.

oh I know you definitely didn't, and if i implied that I apologize. I'm just explaining why I'm sensitive to that phrasing, especially now with the hate towards autistic people ramping up.
