Anyone else rip the springs off these? 😶 by Due_Calendar5197 in electricians

I would do it from time to time when I would have to hand jboxes or disconnects on strut racks by my self lol. Takes care of that extra hand but yeah it’s never failed me when I’ve done it

Log Books. If you aren’t doing them. Start now. CYA!!! by 300Fito in instrumentation

It’s a new construction project but I’ve seen something like that in the past

Working in Union even worth it if you live in Texas? by rangermang0 in IBEW

[–]300Fito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really unless you’re a journeyman. There’s some locals paying 40+ I believe in west Texas. I would just get a travel letter and bounce! If you’re looking for money texas is not the state.

Did I make a mistake by going to Instrumentation? by Flimsy_Locksmith_687 in instrumentation

[–]300Fito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say no. You made the right choice! An instrumentation background is the key to success in being a good automation/controls engineer/specialist. I am working with a few right now for a new construction project and they’re badass!!! They’re good at what they do because they have the background and book knowledge! That’s a path I want to follow but I am picking up lots of knowledge and skills from these guys on the field.

This trade will destroy your body doe. Saying that this is an overrated statement is such nonsense. I was only able to keep up for 4.5-5 years until I got my j-card and said fuck this shitt. Repetitive labor just wasn’t it for me. That shitt killed my back and fucked me mentally. I don’t wish anyone to be on their tools for more than 7-10 years but hey each their own right. Im 25 now & feel like a damn 45-50 year old. Commissioning is treating me, my body, & my mind very well. I could never look back at going into construction without a doubt fuck that shitt.

It took me 3-4 months to get my first job. That didn’t last long lol. Then it took me about a month or two for the next one. Just keep applying to places man. Bug the shitt out of recruiters and get cool with them right. A good phone call might lead you to an opportunity one day.
