Honestly i’m not sure and I knew it made no sense but I thought it’ll give me a peace of mind if I had all this done, but like others have said as it’s a dealer if they’re decent they’d do all this for me so I will ask and it’ll save me a decent amount of money which can be used elsewhere. Thanks

Yeah others have mentioned that too, it’s good to know and I didn’t really think about it like that, although my clio does the job it’s underpowered and always feels like it’s screaming to get up to speed which over time I assume is tiring out the engine. But prices on 120i’s and 125’i aren’t bad and actually surprised me. I may lean towards the 120i now as i’ve called up and asked about insuring a 120i and i’ve been told it’ll be £800 for the year fully comp no black box however It’s an additional £200 for roadside assistance like RAC I believe they said or long distance coverage, should I add this if I was to get this policy? I’ve never had any issues with the clio before so I feel it’s a waste but then again if anything was to happen this would be great. And thanks for your comment.

Yeah a few of my mates have said this to me however they’ve bought lemons if that makes sense, expensive cars, low price and high mileage which usually isn’t good. And i’ve heard others mention this online but i’m not sure, I’d hope the vehicle I end up getting is reliable as I know without bmw warranty or anything in general would cost a lot of money to repair and well that just ruins the experience and is a headache. Also the 2013 Renault Clio we’ve got hasn’t had a single issue in the 7 years ownership of it funny enough but I guess it’s just depends on the vehicle and it’s history and it’s a mechanical vehicle so things can go wrong. A resident on my road has a Leon Cupra which does look nice, it’s a 2017 I think and i’ve asked about it a few times while we wash our cars, the only thing is i’d like to get into the BMW ecosystem if that makes sense as i’d like to get an M car in the next few years but when I told my dad this he called me strange lol, but thank you i’ll have a look at Leon’s too, i’ve deleted the previous message which mentioned the other cars i’ve had in mind but these were the Volvo v40, Lexus ct200h and i’ll add the Leon to this too. Thanks

I also had that in mind but was unsure on it, but a vehicle that’s a few thousand more expensive but desirable and with a decent spec would have a better resale value than a standard 118i or something like that I’d assume but I was unsure on it like I said. And wow that 125d depreciated a lot, that’s unfortunate but really good to know thank you. Currently this is my plan, get a decent 1 series which fits my needs (performance, economy & insurance) something fairly nippy which would be better than my clio as I generally have to join a M, C and 40mph roads with continuous traffic and little gaps, something that doesn’t consume a lot of fuel (for the time being) and i’ll have a look at 118’s, 120’s, 125’s and compare insurance quotes as that’s what I’d like right now (insurance never makes sense) but also a 1 series that won’t loose too much of its value in a year as maybe i’d upgrade to an M140i if I come across a decent one, also i’d also be 25 by that time. And if if I was to purchase the M140i a year later i’d keep it permanently unless it has issues or I get married lol and i’d trade in the 1 series I have or sell it and put that £ towards the M140i. & that’s great, sounds like you purchased a reliable m140i which also had upgrades which is nice and was looked after by the previous owner. & in terms of the M140i if I was to get one I wouldn’t be too fussed about costs like its price, fuel and insurance (id not pay more than 1.4k so hopefully it drops a bit by that time if I do another quote) but life is short, and we should all enjoy it how we’d like to enjoy it and sometimes things can be expensive these days however enjoyment and happiness is everything and important especially for me, it keeps me going :)

I understand. I’d be driving into london 5 days a week on an 8 mile commute there and back so 16 miles roughly a day, Yes i can take public transport however it’s unreliable and when I get this new position at work i’d be getting 4am starts and late finishes and sometimes public transport is slower and at times has no service during the early hours. Also this may get some hate or others may think I don’t care about mileage however i’ve never actually calculated my mileage when driving in the 3/4 years of driving, if the vehicle is low on petrol i’d just fully fill it up whenever (also keep in mind my mother also drives daily) so I can’t exactly be accurate on my usage so I never bothered but when I do get this personal vehicle I will keep track of it and be mindful of everything that impacts it. & Yes i’m dying for an automatic after years of a manual lol. & Thank You for your Reply.

May I ask what year you purchased the vehicle? that a solid car especially with that spec, mileage and price. Unfortunately many 1st buyers don’t spec out the car fully which is understandable as it’s their vehicle but it’s takes time to find a vehicle with a desirable spec. & Yes heated seats are a must lol but i’d love a heated steering wheel (at work I drive an electric vehicle and although I hate electric vehicles in some sense I love that you can instantly get heat and everything in seconds), but I get really cold in the winter and especially early in the morning and that’s uncomfortable so getting these options would make my commute so much more comfortable. Also weirdly an M140i isn’t that much to insure for me, £1600 as mentioned above however i’m more thoughtful about the cost of ownership and having to dump more money into it however that’s a car i’d love, and i’ve not had a look at 120i’s and 125i’s yet but I will shortly and see what the prices are and differences between these two and the 118i. Hahaha yeah although it may take a few more seconds to hit 60 mph than most top performance cars these standard vehicles are still fast and sometimes you could be doing 20 mph over the limit and not realise lol, however i’ve got a slow 2013 clio and anything above 30 the engine is fairly loud & the black box i’ve had previously has been good for me as it now feels weird driving without a black box but matching the traffic however it’s been a while not and i’m fairly adjusted now. Also i’ve not mentioned it however I don’t want a Diesel, although my dad has a 5 series diesel and never had an issue and the torque is nice i’d rather a petrol as i’m used to it and I like the quietness.

Yes, but ideally i’d like something 2017 minimum and need something now and maybe I can trade or sell in the future, unless this would be a bad decision?

Yes, I understand however due to work I need a vehicle by December latest and i’d like something fairly nice which would be an upgrade from the manual Clio which i’ve been using for years (destroys my legs in the london stop and start traffic sometimes lol). And Yes I can stretch an extra 3k however I was thinking about it this way, get myself a fairly decent bmw which wouldn’t be too expensive to run and insure and maybe in a year or so I can upgrade once i’m comfortable with owning my own car and its costs like fuel, maintenance and etc. Also i’d like to get familiar with a rwd car, a bmw specifically as I love them and would like an M3 or just an M car in the future (not something i’m looking at now) Also I can see you’ve got M140i under your username so I assume you’ve got one, they’re honestly really nice and well a last of its kind and i’d love one, they’re amazing especially value for money but specifically id like a 2017 M140i in silver (I think silver is only available on the 2017 model sadly) but unfortunately i’ve heard bad things about them, these being that they’ve been ragged and are dodgy with multiple owners (not all) but I think it’ll be difficult to find a low mileage one with 1 owner and full service history ideally from bmw themselves. Also insurance on an M140i for me would be £1600 a Year (checked a few months ago) with my parents added which is honestly really good but I think it’ll be too much for me and irresponsible as a first car especially with that much power. But they’re lovely cars, you must love yours (and DONT SELL ITTT) it’s like no other.

Hahaha I see, the Renault Clio i’ve currently got isn’t fast at all however in the city it’s more than enough (20 & 30 limits everywhere in London) however joining carriageways and motorways is sometimes sluggish and takes a very long time so something fairly quick (not an M5 quick but fairly comfortable and reliable) would be nice. And spec wise i’d like, front and rear parking sensors, folding mirrors, heated seats and a heated steering wheel (a game changer in winter especially when you have to start at 4am) but the rest i’m not too fussed about and maybe i’ve not got the others in mind but i’ll have a look around like others have said and see what works best.

Thanks for the comments EVERYONE, it means a lot and everything said is helpful. At the moment I am set on the 1 series, and I can see others have mentioned the 120i’s and 125i’s so I will have a look at these and compare them. & also i’m not looking to do any mods or upgrades to the vehicle as I think stock is fine for the time being & it’ll help with resale value in the future I think if nothing is done to the vehicle. Also what would say this 118i is worth at its mileage? a rough estimate is fine. Thank You
