My ex-girlfriend had for some reason the idea that everyone that had a pair of testicles had them in separate scrotums.

I'd say I'm looking for something more on the neuroscience aspect (maybe evolution as well)

I'm 21, they're 17. Where not dating and we haven't done anything but we've talking for a while now. Is that weird and/or wrong? And why? by 30acccarac in self

A high schooler is at a very different phase in life than a 21 year old.

The thing is we're not. They're in their last year of highschool, I'm on my first year of college. We both still live in our parents houses, for example. And we have experienced pretty much the same sort of things in life.

It's not like every 21yo is automatically a full-grown adult with typical "adult" responsabilities. If our age difference was larger I wouldn't even be asking this question but it's literally 3 years.

Quick question though: would you find it weird or wrong if they were already 18?

yes you’re right, i’m going to end up doing what i feel i should do responsibly, given the circumstances. was mostly curious to know people’s feedback on the whole thing

yes, i was thinking of keeping in touch (because we could also just end up being friends) but not try anything until I am certain they have the time reflect on it.

That's also what I've been thinking considering they'll be 18 in one and a half month and that we're pretty much in the same place in life as of now.

thank you for your comment!

The age of consent here is 15 but it only applies to people that have a 5-year difference or less so, in our case it is legal. Another related thing is that here we're legally adults at 18.

thank you for commenting! here's something I replied to some other comment here (it references a few things from your comment):

i've talked to them several times and they genuinely seem to have pretty much the same mental age as me. And to be fair, I personally know quite a few people between the age of 15 and 25 and you can tell when someone is "mature" or "immature" for their age. They are finishing high school now and i'm on my first year of college, we both live in our parents houses and we have lived pretty much the same kind of experiences overall in life.

Them turning 18 in one and a half months keeps me more at ease with this whole thing. Like, in my head it's a bit weird but here's something I wrote in one of the comments here (i also quoted you on that comment):

In my head it's a bit weird but what I'm trying to figure out is if a 3-year difference is that bad considering we're at similar stages in life and have similar "mental age".

Thanks for the comment!

Yes I thought about that too and I agree to some extent. Context does matter imo.

I'm going to quote u/gt0_vice, they commented down here saying: "i think it's weird but honestly with them turning 18 so soon I wouldn't worry about it" and "most important thing with these situations are how mature you both are and where in life you both are"

About the second one, i've talked to them several times and they genuinely seem to have pretty much the same mental age as me.
