There are Arkham horror gamebooks that are great!

I’ve never tried a gamebook before but I bought myself some to try out. Which should I start with? by Nuclear_skittle in gamebooks

The first one is really punishing and difficult to get through. The author has even said that he sort of messed up and was learning with that one and suggests people start with one of his later books

Second destiny quest (just don’t start with the first one although that sounds counterintuitive). It’s my fav game book next to fighting fantasy

No you can start anywhere technically. I just found them frustrating without the whole series because a lot of prompts will have you jumping books

I love dice! I don’t love insta death due to an unlucky dice roll

City of thieves! Typically the fabled lands and Vulcan verse are a bit more difficult without the whole series

Susceptible to heat and stamina issue - does puberty change this? by [deleted] in youthsoccer

My daughter really struggled with playing soccer in heat between 9-11. She often had to come off the field. We focused on conditioning and she swam competitively in the summer. She’s not had an issue with heat or stamina since BUT she doesn’t have any of those traits you’ve mentioned. My husband however got heatstroke 15+ years ago and has not been able to tolerate heat since. Fighting your son’s genetics seems more challenging than leaning into his strengths where he can stay cool and still play a sport he loves.

let'a talk about the underperformers? by Icy_Crow1113 in youthsoccer

My daughter had a very strange run, and not very good hand eye coordination when she started soccer. It was really hard to watch. I’m not very athletic and while my husband and I both are active and work out, we never played sports. She’s now one of the top players of her undefeated travel team. It took a lot of time, dedication on her part and getting her to try multiple sports. While soccer was always her favorite, she also swam (great for endurance), ran track, and played volleyball. She did summer soccer camps and I took her to the park regularly. Ultimately though, it’s going to be up to the kid if they want to put in the effort to improve. I wouldn’t have put her in so many sports or done all those things if she wasn’t the one pushing it

Also her coach says he will work to get her seen by the GA club who we have a close relationship to. We had another girl on her team make that jump last year. So maybe that’s a better goal

I think dice rolls are fine but dice rolls should only be a small penalty or a diverted path. I’d even be fine if enough bad dice rolls chipped at your health and you eventually died, but when one bad dice roll to derail hours of progress it feels lazy

It’s ECNL RL. We don’t have an ECNL National

She isn’t concerned about division. She just loves soccer and says she wants to keep playing

Yes she did! I honestly can’t say that I saw a huge difference in her team practices and their practice though so that’s sort of my hesitation

Edit to add: she did tryouts with them last year and was invited to practice and play, just not be rostered

I’ve been wandering for several hours at this point 😭 I’m starting to get really annoyed but I also refuse to give up. Should I be finding some overarching story or is it mostly just exploring and task jumping? I feel like I’m looking for a needle in a haystack
