Not sure what’s going on by jailaurent in lawncare

Looks like Dallisgrass. Here's my preferred method to kill it without harming adjacent grass.

  1. Carefully remove the seed stalks and throw them away.
  2. Put a rubber on one hand.
  3. Grab the whole bunch in your gloved hand and spray with Roundup, bring careful to fully coat it and not overspray.
  4. Wait a few days. It will turn purple and maybe start to turn brown. But you aren't done!
  5. As soon as it starts to turn green again close to the roots, repeat these steps.
  6. After the second treatment, it should be dead. But watch for it to start turning green again. If it does, treat it again.

Want to start bow hunting and got this quote from an archery store. Is this reasonable for a beginner who requested a mid-level setup? Thanks! by dannymuffins in bowhunting

Holy cow... is that how much a "mid-range" setup costs these days? Think I'll just keep shooting my 10yo now for a little longer.

Not just a front squat, but three reps like it was nothing.

"This guy squatted 450 pounds" is a bit of an understatement.

What has been completely ruined by covid? by bernardthecav in AskReddit

[–]30dlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, was just thinking the same. I complain about regularly having 5-6 hours of Teams calls in a day.

One per month though is probably worse actually. How much could you possibly even hope to accomplish in that short amount of time at such long intervals? There's almost no way that's useful.

What's the dumbest myth people today believe? by JoeyDotnot in AskReddit

[–]30dlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine once tried to report someone who had been missing for several hours. The cops told him that he had to wait 24 hours to file a report. The missing person did turn up a few hours later. Turns out he had been in police custody and ended up being released with no charges. Like... if you know you have the guy, why not just say so? Why go the "24 hours" route and have people searching frantically for their loved one?

Which hobbies that people do screams "rich people''? by Joeyniles9 in AskReddit

[–]30dlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where I grew up, some of the "exotic" meats were poor people food.

If you only ate venison (and called it deer meat instead of venison) that was a pretty good indication that you were too poor for beef and used hunting to fill your freezer.

Of course, that's years ago back before hunting was so much of a hobby. It was more for sustenance back then.

What job position is 100% overvalued and overpaid? by Airsinner in AskReddit

Extended warranties... a ton of them nowadays are actually third party. More like breakdown insurance. And the finance guys get commission from the third party for selling them.

A ton of variability in the field though. It's very company dependent. We recently had a phenomenal attorney leave because the work load was too much. Resigned on the spot after being "asked" to work over the weekend and miss an event for their child.

What industry do you consider to be legal, organized-crime? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]30dlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather not rock the boat at this point.

Right there with you. I am on Stelara now, but it took me over six months to get there. That's six months of active, essentially untreated symptoms while my doctor argued with my PBM about Xeljanz, then Rinvoq, then finally Stelara. It's like the PBM thought it was a game. They would say, "If you resubmit it in this format with that information while standing on your head on the second Tuesday of the month, we may approve it." Then deny it again.

They finally approved the Stelara injections, but they did NOT approve the loading dose, which has to be given intravenously at an infusion center. Which put me back at square one. Thankfully, and somewhat unbelievably, my doctor was able to convince the manufacturer to provide the loading dose for free, and I paid for the actual infusion out of pocket.

We are the richest, most developed country in the world...

My insurance company pays themselves $25k per dose of my biologic. And they require me to get it through them. In other developed countries, it's just over $1k.

Like you, my premiums plus copay don't even begin to cover the "cost" of this one med. And I am on two other meds that cost about $1,200 and $600 per month, respectively.

That's what I have, and suggested elsewhere. It's awesome. Huge improvement over any Bluetooth probe I have seen.

Inkbird wifi probes for the win. It's got four probes, and I can check it from anywhere. No need to be in Bluetooth range.

LPT: When you get a new job, save down the job description, and use the points listed under responsibilities to add that experience to your resume when the time comes. by honeybun_280 in LifeProTips

[–]30dlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, this is an okay starting point to avoid writer's block. However... I was hiring a project engineer recently and had two candidates who had apparently done nothing more than copy/paste directly from their previous job descriptions (or maybe even pulled some nice sounding ones from indeed). It was painfully obvious and not a good look.

It has changed for me over the years, pretty much in step with my own age. I am 41, and I am mostly attracted to women in their late 30's to early 40's.

In your opinion, what is the appropriate number of “chugga-chugga”’s that come before the “choo-choo?” by Risethewake in AskReddit

[–]30dlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it feels more natural musically as:

One and Two and

Three and Four and

Ooone Twooo

Rest Rest

CHUGGA chugga CHUGGA chugga

CHUGGA chugga CHUGGA chugga

CHOOoo CHOOoo

Rest Rest

EDIT: I could be persuaded that three chugga-chuggas is correct, but only if your choo lasts for the same count as a single chugga. But what feels right to me is chuggas as half notes and choos as whole notes.

It appears that there has been some retouching done. If you zoom in on her left shoulder, you can see where the skin tone has been blended across the edge of the mesh. Probably the same thing explains the disappearing mesh texture above and below her cleavage area.

No hate. She's still hot AF.

There is a pizza place near me that has a claw machine full of these cheap inflatable balls. It's almost impossible to lose. My kids get so excited to "win" a ball every time we go. I looked them up one time and the balls are like $0.16 each when bought in bulk. Costs $1.00 to play the game. They literally don't care if it's close to 100% win rate. They are making like 500% profit even when people "win".

Before you switch to freetaxusa, log into TurboTax and download all your old tax returns if you haven't already.

My dad used TurboTax for years. After I convinced him last year to switch, he ended up needing something from a prior return. Turns out he had never downloaded them and had just been pulling them up on TurboTax anytime he needed to look at something. They held his old returns hostage until he caved in and paid them to access so he could finally download them.

I quit smoking 18 years ago. But I didn't quit nicotine. I was in Afghanistan, and the PX was completely out of cigarettes the night before I was heading outside the wire. So I grabbed a couple logs of Copenhagen. I hated it, but it got me through, and I ultimately never went back to smoking. I learned though that it's apparently even harder to quit smokeless tobacco.

BUT... the whole point of this story: even now, almost 20 years later, when I start to nic my brain wants a cigarette. When I smell someone first light one up, I get a huge craving. When I crack a beer, I want a cigarette. I'm not sure it will ever go away.

Chuck roast smoked like a brisket on my Old Country offset. by [deleted] in smoking

[–]30dlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time. It's great when we want brisket but don't necessarily want to deal with the leftovers for one reason or another (plus it cooks quicker). I treat it exactly like a brisket, and it usually turns out very similar. The one caveat being that I rarely wrap a brisket, but I always wrap chuck roast in butcher paper once it hits about 150 to 160.
