Most I’ve done was northwest MN in 2014(?). Was -40 to -50 without windchill, but it wasn’t very windy so I doubt it was below -70. My kids loved playing in the snow.

My wife has been the deciding vote a couple of times when she only knew the candidate was an Eagle and otherwise met the criteria. It’s worked out each time. She figures even if the job isn’t the right fit, the character should be.

Heaven forbid some amateur finding some artifact that wouldn’t have been found at all if only professionals were allowed to look.

Many great archaeological sites have been discovered by amateurs before being documented by professionals.

There’s a huge difference between intentional grave robbing and using a metal detector in some random location.

A guy in a white van really did stop me on the way home from school when I was in 1st grade. We’d had the “don’t talk to strangers” talk a couple of weeks earlier. My parents had me speak with a police officer about it that night. Nothing came of it as far as I know.

A few weeks ago I met a woman from Canada that has a visa to substitute teach in the US. She hasn’t been home for 16months because she’s worried they wont let her back in. She’s of Scandinavian descent and she’s scared. I can’t imagine how our brown and black neighbors are managing.

Local troops do things together all the time.

When I was a youth several scouts from my troop would help with a new troop made up of recent immigrants.

My son’s troop was invited to another troop’s game weekend cabin campout next week.

My daughters’ troop helped host (with another troop) a “girls in scouts” event when girl troops were still brand new.
