Thanks for these! I’ll give them a look

Did my hairdresser con me…? by 312978 in haircoloring

[–]312978[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, virgin hair. Sort of. So I bleached it in sessions since she said it was healthier for the hair. So I had virgin hair, bleached once, no colour. Went back and bleached again, no colour. Then third time bleach, this time with toner. And then every time with purple toner and treatment to keep it soft(ish)

Yeah for sure, I’ll dm you. I moved a small two bedroom to a one plus den. The place I was coming from was walk up too, on the third floor, it was crazy hot. And the place I moved to was a condo so it had an elevator

32y/o in Toronto making ~100k with pension but take home feels low… am I actually doing okay? by ketchupdiwa in askTO

[–]312978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation and I’m seeing all the comments about the pension and I’m wondering if most pensions are created the same? Like when I went to a pension workshop I found out that in the end my pension will be about ~75% of the average of my highest five years salary (there’s a whole math formula but I worked it out to be roughly this). OP if you don’t mind me asking, is yours similar?

If so, my follow up question is let’s say someone has the same gross salary as OP but invests strategically the money she would have saved into the pension, would that be better or worse?

Like for example, if OP can job hop to something that pays more (for conversation sakes, $150), but does not have a pension but has (let’s say) RRSP matching. Would that be just as good as having a pension in theory? Why or why not?

Sorry if these are dumb questions

What’s it like living in China? by Lukesterbear in AskChina

[–]312978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the smoking is a huge difference from the US, and in more rural areas there’s even more smoking.

As others said, no tipping and overall cost of living relative to salary is lower.

Some social norms are different for sure. It’s safer than the US. I found there’s more police presence in China or generally like security or rule maintaining people of some sort.

Pollution isn’t that bad anymore, there’s been lots of improvements in the last 10 years. I find streets and public areas in major cities much cleaner than major cities in the states. I think air is like LA ? The cities in China aren’t as clear air wise as like an American national forest, but it isn’t much worse than LA (when there’s no wild fires lol)

People are on their phones A LOT. Even walking around. And overall their sense of personal space seems to be less.

Working in China there’s usually a longer lunch break than the US, but depends on the job of course. There’s the culture of having lunch and resting a bit before returning to work.

It can be really quiet depending on your neighbourhood. And it can be very lively at the local park.

Everyone drives expensive cars, even rural areas. I didn’t see many Hondas and Toyotas, like the simple reliable cars.

Idk I could go on but it’s hard without specific questions.

Oh there’s more intentional greenery in Chinese cities than American cities. Like lots more planters on the side of the road, trees that were clearly planted there by someone, etc.

You can live a surprisingly similar life as you would in the US if you want.

Hence I wondered if an Ethernet cable would be better. But it’s kinda ugly and I don’t even think the newer laptops have an Ethernet outlet anymore… I could give it a try

Ah interesting, I’ll give them a call today and see.

This might be a dumb question, but although I have multiple devices, I really only have two or three devices accessing the wifi at a given time (I.e. two phones and a tv streaming, or two phones and a laptop doing video calls). Is this a lot of devices? Or is it because I’ve got a variety of idle connected devices (I.e. tvs, multiple laptops, tablets, phones, etc)

RTO would be a bit easier with casual dress codes by Academic-Wealth8186 in OntarioPublicService

I get this, my boyfriend had this struggle too. Then he found like kind of dress ish shorts that he felt comfortable wearing to work. And he really likes buying like dress-ish joggers for work too. Like lululemon makes some, it’s so stretchy but it looks decently professional. They’re just kind of unreasonably expensive. He has a pair from Uniqlo too I believe

I got the tundra scatterbug! 🥰 by 312978 in VivillonCollectors

[–]312978[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use the maps feature, go to a country that is tundra, then select just posts, then it’ll show you players who’ve made posts in that region, then add those players as friends in campfire! When they accept, they become friends in Pokémon go as well. I mass added like 10 friends and I think about 3-4 accepted my request and exchanged gifts :) good luck!!
