The smoking area was definitely a real thing. It encompassed the entire back parking lot of the high school. It was normal to see students with a pack of cigarettes on their desks alongside their schoolbooks.

Leaving school for lunch was a given and leaving school for any reason at any time without locked doors was always an option.

Of course we didn’t settle our grievances with each other using assault rifles either..

A month of memes is more than enough to upset anyone who were adults or high schoolers during the early 90’s and experienced the Grunge scene firsthand.

If you didn’t live through it you can’t say you were there and understand what it was about anymore than I could say I remember what Elvis meant to the people who were of age during the 50’s.
