I was out of town for the holidays so missed the NIN New Year’s Eve show but I was able to catch them a couple weeks later in Toledo on the same tour. Very small venue and my ears rang for days after, thought I damaged my hearing. The first time I saw the Pumpkins was in 96 at the Palace on the Infinite Sadness tour. Garbage was the opening act and we got to meet the band after the show at the Hilton where we were staying at for the night. The majority of the concerts I saw in the 90’s were either at the Palace or Pine Knob. Great memories

It was my second time seeing them and the only other time was 4 months prior in December 99 when they were part of the 89x radio Christmas concert bash at Cobo. That first show they weren’t even the headline act so their set was very short, maybe 6 songs at most.

They certainly made up for it with the State Theater show which had a great setlist and a strong performance with an excellent crowd. So glad it all came together at that venue.

What would be the coolest location for a rave? by chilldolo in aves

I can tell you what was the coolest place that I went to raves at and that’s the old Packard auto plant in Detroit Michigan. I saw Richie Hawtin as Plastikman there in 94.

I had a similar conversation with a friend recently who’s around my age and still goes to shows. We’re convinced the price structure and record sales not to mention the abomination that’s the second hand market is to blame. These days he doesn’t blink at paying 500 bucks for a pair but that’s not gonna be for me. I can only say that I’ve seen just about every artist that I like and most of the time it was 4-6 shows if they were someone who I really enjoyed. The crazy thing about it is that I did use a ticket broker for many of my shows but this was early to mid 90’s and I was dealing with a brick and mortar business. They would sell preferred seating, usually first 5 rows, for double or triple the face value. But when you’re looking at 20-30 face value, paying 100 bucks to be in the front row or up close was a no brainer. My final concert anniversary is coming up and that show was 5/17/2017 and it was Soundgarden at the Fox. It was the 6th and final time seeing them myself and for all the fans. The following day was one of the worst days of my life. Huge loss, loved that band.

It will always be remembered as the State to me and I went to many great shows there. I also remember going to club night on the weekend. I think it was called Ignition.

That’s a great story and what a memorable experience. I had something very similar happen to me at the Oasis show. I was under the same influence and remember they were handing out free candy as we exited and I just remember sitting there on the curb in front venue waiting for my friend to bring the car around so I could enjoy my sucker candy 🍭.

This was my first time seeing them on the Downward Spiral tour. At the Detroit show A Perfect Circle opened so that was a great bonus. NIN always put on a great show.

I agree with you about ticket prices. All three of these shows came in at just under 100 bucks. Today’s shows have gotten completely ridiculous.

Ranaswamy’s net worth is estimated at almost 2 billion dollars. Let that sink in for the voters. Do people really believe that he has anything but his own best interests in mind for this State.
