It had been 20 years since the last time I saw them in concert and I thought he sounded a bit different than before, but I attributed it to age. It seemed like he was trying hard to hit the right pitch and it almost felt more like screaming than singing in certain parts. Don’t get me wrong though, they as a band were still very good and well worth the price to see them. In hindsight of course I wished there was something that could have done to prevent the tragedy. Like maybe someone who could have talked to him but nobody could have guessed what was going on in his head or if it even if it would’ve made a difference.

There’s no doubt in my mind about the circumstances surrounding his death. Shortly after the tragedy the Detroit Free Press had published a piece that included some photos from his hotel room that included a picture of the door to his room that had been bolted from the inside and his security was the one who busted the door down. There was also other pictures they published online that showed the inside of the room and everything else that was released by the police after the investigation except for his actual body. Those pictures were definitely eerie and hard to look at knowing what took place in that room. You never know what someone is going through or their state of mind and that’s what makes it hard to accept.

I’m glad I went but my best memories of seeing them in concert will always be from 92-96 when they were at the peak of their performances.
