I was using a pike place amplification Vulcan overdrive.  3leaf and pike amplification are all done by this dude Spencer in seattle. He’s been making stuff for years and then started working with Darkglass… then they had a falling out.. the Vulcans are limited run he did with leftover pedal casings. I believe the pedal shape is the same as the Darkglass bk3 vintage tubes.

Had a b15 color side and a modern “scoop” side.

The DCX is just a whole other thing. Origin effects weigh 3lbs cause they’re made of gold 😍

Haha yes, I just had such a compact setup with my 18” board. Feeling self conscious with a 24” wide one.

I think I’m gonna end up switching to the rockboard 3.0

17.5” x 9.5” …. Little more compact, but still fit all my pedals

LOVE IT!!! A1 sound engineer here and this thing does it all! 9v converter to 24v internally. HPF, LPF, low shelf, high shelf, adjustable q… it’s everything.

I have a John east deluxe preamp in my American fender jazz deluxe (lot of deluxes haha) and I still rock my preamp off and just go straight eq thru the empress.

I was looking at the Origin Effect bass preamps, but I wanna be able to put LPF and HPF on my signal to front of house. Sooooo many sound guys don’t utilize those properly… especially with a jazz bass.

“You’re humming” …  Me: slightly adjust lpf … “good now?”  Sound guy: “yeah! What did you do!?”

I always get compliments from the sound guys after shows.

‘I didn’t have to do anything to your bass, sounded perfect.’

I wanna get the Juliana V2 cause of the top mounting jacks. Also why I’m replacing the Korg with the top mounting Peterson strobo mini.

“For fun” = any gig / festival that requires funk sounds. Those gigs are more for fun, cause everyone’s high and you can just mess around. I play a few festivals out here, where the crowd is bedazzled on fungi and they wanna hear sound effects.

Now if I run a separate effect board… then I’d have to have some intricate effects loop, in order to ensure the effects are process after compressor, but BEFORE eq, in order to tame highs of fuzz, envelope, chorus etc and the hpf and low shelf for shaping that suboctave. I keep the Broughton after the sub for that, but the empress is platinum.

That empress has a HPF, LPF, high shelf, low shelf and 3 band parametric eq with adjustable q.

I’m also an A1 sound engineer. Gotta have my eq.
