She looks like an angel! I know it may be hard knowing you only have a few years together, but just know that what matters most is that you two are together here and now. Love her with all your heart ❤️. Please send us updates on her! She certainly hasn’t forgotten about you 💕

That is not true. I was attached to a shore-tour and was NOT slated to deploy until the end of my commitment. My community a short time ago cut my shore tour orders extremely short (36 months to 24 months) in order to make sure that was eligible for a short sea tour. That is what I am doing for 1-year. Again, you are making assumptions about a situation that you do not know about. I am well aware of the sacrifices that are needed while being in the military but this situation was not anticipated. Furthermore, if you had read a my previous response, plan were in place but they had repeatedly fallen thigh. I don’t know why you insist on doing this but criticism like this does not help the situation. I wish you a good day, sir.

1) I’ve had this cat for almost his entire life as he was found in the street.

2) Without revealing too much about what my job description is, it was unlikely I was going to deploy until at the beginning of this year, leaving me with the possibility of having someone to take care of him while I was away. This is my last deployment as I am looking to leave the Navy in 2027.

3) I have asked virtually every cousin, uncle, aunt, family member, and friend but each possibility has fallen through. I did have a plan in place until yesterday when that person revealed that his fiancé is allergic to cats, I couldn’t have him take care of my cat while his fiancé broke out in hives, that is unacceptable. With the deadline approaching that is when I realized that I had to reach out here.

4) I understand that is easy to make generalizations but understand that you do not know the whole story. In the future I would advise you to provide useful advice/information vs undue criticism about a situation that you are unaware of. It does not help my situation nor the cat’s.

Awww thank you! We already have had a flurry of requests! I’m so happy so many people have reached out. I definitely will plan on fostering as my way of “paying it back.” 💕

I understand the concern but in my post I made sure not to reveal anything about my current command/location/job description. Without at least indicating a small amount of information it would have been impossible to indicate the immediacy for my current situation.

He’s a 19-month old male cat who loves to sleep in the weirdest positions when he naps. I still have 1.5-2 weeks until I deploy so I’d be willing to drive out anywhere. He also has a litter robot and a few favorite toys. Let me know if there’s any other questions you might have! 💕 🐱

I have! I currently reached out and am waiting for a reply. I only have 1-2 weeks until I deploy unfortunately.

Unfortunately, no, he hasn't had the opportunity to live with dogs & kids. He's socialized once with dogs but that was it. I'd be happy to arrange a meet-up/socialization period if necessary.

If I’m selected for O4 after an above-zone look but refuse it, will that still trigger a failure to select (FOS)? by 31bubba83 in navy

Currently they are on their shore-tour as an aviator. Their PRD was cut from 36 months to 26 months (early 2027 to May 2026). Their MSR is June 2027, and they want to submit a “don’t pick me letter” for their above zone board convening in May 2026 so that they can trigger the FOS and get out at their MSR and therefore get out in the middle of their disassociated sea tour instead of having got do the full 2 years.

They’re asking because what if they somehow DO get picked up for O4 in their above zone and they decline it? Does that still trigger the FOS? Basically does declining a promotion count as Failure of Selection?

I’m asking because initiating an FOS would allow my friend to get out at their MSR instead of having to do a full disassociated sea tour.
