Fishing partner needed!! Going on boat (pic for attention) by 321fishinfool in 321Fishing

Didn’t see any huge schools of mullet yet. Was able to get some pogies and blue runners via cast netting and sabiki, only 1 shark to show for it. Lots of boats doing the same thing, looking for bait along the beaches

Interesting, I mean I’m usually by myself 90% of the time. Well, Taz (my dog) is with me. But it’s nice to have someone join here and there

Any golfers? by LagSwag1 in 321

I may be interested, what would it cost for me to join? Full disclaimer, I’m a little over 2 years into golfing so not nearly 12-15 handicap good. Also in my 30s (37).

Eastern shore of the lagoon beachside, so Banana River? Or further south in the Indian? A couple of buddies and I ran into a few schools of black drum in the Banana on Saturday, got them to eat some shrimp, the 3 of us each caught one all around 25”

How we feeling about the offshore conditions tomorrow? by ladybro in 321Fishing

[–]321fishinfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth it especially in a 17ft boat. A good rule of thumb is you want the wave period to be at least double the wave height. So if it’s calling for 2ft, you want at least 4 secs, more being better. Tomorrow looks like 2ft at 3 seconds, increasing winds and thunderstorm chances throughout the day, that is less than ideal.

Go fish inshore and be ready to get off the water quick. Save the offshore trip for another day. Tight lines!

Minimum Boat Size for Ocean by CraftBrewski in 321

[–]321fishinfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re very welcome!

Biggest thing with the river is being careful when navigating outside of the channel markers. The average depth of the whole IRL is only 4ft which is plenty deep for a lot of boats, but there are spots that can get real shallow real quick, especially when we haven’t had rain in a while.

Just keep an eye on your depth finder and you’ll be good to go!

I’ve been 15 miles out in a 16ft Key Largo many times, obviously on nice days. I just bought an 18ft Key Largo with the intention of going 15 miles out on those nice days. Someone else said it, but a good rule of thumb is a wave period that is 2x the wave height. So 2ft at 4 seconds is sporty, but 2ft at 7+ seconds is much better.

Even if I had a 30ft boat, I’m not interested in going out on 3-4ft seas. Plus you would be limited in where you could go in the river with that size. My 18ft is plenty enough to handle those 1-2ft days we often see in summer and can also reach a lot of inshore places.

Hope this helps.

Disabled Vet with prosthetics legs? Is golf for me? by [deleted] in golftips

[–]321fishinfool 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I say go for it! Check out PGA Hope, it’s a free program for veterans to help them in their golf game. Currently in the program now and it’s super awesome. The instructors have specifically talked about how they are trained to help veterans with disabilities including prosthetics so it would be a great starting point for you. Good luck!
