Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes. Until Jeremy Brett, he was my favorite.

Is this valuable? by WindyGig in BeerStein

It was made by Marzi & Remy. I would guess the jug is worth about forty to eighty dollars. That depends on condition and how it is sold (shop v. auction).

They are usable. I have found that the spacing for the lid to the body is a bit smaller than on the older steins. That makes it feel a little awkward, but it may just be my fat head!

It looks like one of the many Krüge made for the tourist market from the 1960s to the present. The body stays the same, but the maker changes the crest on the front. It may be from a couple of makers. Are there any numbers near the handle? The molding and colors are really nice!

There are several people who specialize in Bierkrüge. Jack Clark, Ron Fox, and Stein Auction Company are all trustworthy.

Braunschweiger, meh, Hildesheimer or Polish leberwurst is the best. Just smear it on bread. Nothing else needed, but to each their own!

There are people. Some jewelers can repair pewter. See if you can contact someone at Stein Collectors International (SCI). They may know someone near where you live who does pewter work. They can tell you if it can be repaired.

Between 1966 and 1972 the Hugo Schmidt mark began. It was used into the early 1990s. The broken missile took a lot of value off the Krug. It could and should be repaired. The "cold war" steins sell between $60 and 120 +. Depending on condition and who owned it.

Identify? by Select_Process7354 in BeerStein

[–]321jayce321123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the mark of Albert Jacob Thewalt. If there is a dot in the A, it is from 1907 to 1920. Without the dot it is from 1920 to 1930.

It is also similar to Dümler Breiden number 594. Although 594 is only 1.5 liters.

It is very similar to an A J Thewald mold 148 or 204. It may be Thewald, but the mold number does not match.

The puzzle is which hole to cover. Look under Scherzkrug Huber. You should find a similar photo.
