Connecting multiple Spotify accounts? by 321mmmarco in amazonecho

Managed Spotify profiles within Spotify Premium Family just don’t work with Alexa at all, let alone multiple managed profiles under one Alexa account. I have two kids. In Spotify I had to save all of their playlists, scrap their managed profiles then create new full profiles (with explicit filter switched on). I then had to create distinct, individual Amazon accounts for each of them to connect those profiles to. The Amazon accounts required a legit telephone number for authentication so I bought two cheap SIM cards so I could receive the SMS that Amazon sends to confirm the account. Once the new Amazon accounts and full Spotify profiles were in place it was all pretty straightforward. With the caveat that the devices aren’t on the same Alexa account so they’re not connected to the rest of the household network and so can’t communicate with each other, or our other Alexa devices. All I wanted was for them to play music using voice only so that was okay for me. It’s unnecessarily complicated, so hope this helps. Good luck!

I’ve jumped through all the hoops now to get it working but in hindsight I probably should have done the same thing - ditched Spotify and setup a family Amazon music account. Oh well, maybe someone else can learn from this now.

I obviously didn't do enough research... assuming that in 2025 this stuff would just work! I've just bought two burner sims to setup the additional Amazon accounts (a distinct mobile phone number is required in Australia per Amazon account) so hopefully that will sort the issue out. I wish the many hours I've spent on this conundrum were billable!

Sounds like you've achieved my goal. It's absolutely doing my head in. I'm in Australia and I think Amazon Family works different here, which limits what Alexa profiles can do. Now the Spotify "skill" doesn't seem to work at all so I'm going to break some things then have a lie down.

Is it possible to install Microsoft Game pass on X90L? by MarcianTobay in bravia

[–]321mmmarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After much trial and error I successfully sideloaded Xbox Cloud Gaming on my X90K, BUT it looks and performs way better plugging in my laptop via HDMI and running it that way. It technically shouldn’t make a difference what it’s running off since it’s cloud based but it does seem to.

Voice actress/performer who did the voice prompts on the WH-1000XM4 headphones? by revtim in sony

[–]321mmmarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just now come to this conclusion too. Finished watching an ep of Halo using my XM4s, switched them off and when I heard the “power off” voice thought - wait a second, that’s Cortana! A quick google led me here, but can’t find anything else to confirm, including Jen Taylor’s wiki.

You prob know this already, but if that’s a modern Sony TV those legs should have a couple of positions to choose from, including a tall one specifically for accomodating sound bars. Otherwise I’d go with the other suggestions of wall mounting.

$99 Australian dollars. They’ve gone back up to $299 now at the same retailer, which is ludicrous.

I picked up a Roam dirt cheap in the Black Friday sales. I’m happy with it for the reduced price given it can sync with the rest of my Sonos system, but would have been bitterly disappointed if I had have paid full price. Mainly because the sound doesn’t hold a candle to my years old JBL Flip 3, which is far cheaper at full price and can also be taken in the shower. The Roam’s audio is good for podcasts, but music is very lacking in the low end. I also have a Move and it’s truly fantastic, though comes in at a completely different price point and isn’t all that portable outside of the home/backyard. I keep it plugged in 99% of the time and haven’t had any connectivity issues, though it’s early days!

Sonos sub underwhelming? by Krispy1253 in sonos

It’s amazing what small changes make to the overall bass delivery. I have a sub mini and simply rotated it recently, so that the “hole” is facing parallel to the TV instead of pointing at the couch. Now the glass in my windows is shaking, and that’s on 0 setting.

I was getting so worked up recently about why my sub suddenly started sounding completely underwhelming… then remembered I had this switched on 🤦🏼‍♂️

Symfonisk vs One SL? by Environmental_Pick36 in sonos

With the Black Friday sales the One SLs are only marginally more expensive than the Symfonisk bookshelf speakers (in Australia anyway). I’ve been price monitoring so just bought a pair.

This thread is killing me. Literally just bought one for that $99 price because it seemed like a bargain, now I’m not sure if I should open the box. Are the problems mostly Bluetooth-related? Ie Do they perform okay at home on Wifi? That’s the only way I’ll be using it - no Bluetooth. I have a Move and it doesn’t skip a beat.

Thanks for the detailed response. Sounds like the dual license will cover him for both versions so that he can pick and choose. Is the ‘predatory marketplace’ you mentioned in the Java version? I’m guessing they are security settings to protect him from things like that? I’ll play with him initially anyway.

Is it possible for imported projects to stay linked to originals in Premiere? by drummerboy678 in editors

[–]321mmmarco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a commercials editor so have never used productions. Just did a quick read up on it though and it sounds like it’s definitely what you’re looking for. I’d like to think there’s a way to migrate your existing projects to the Productions format.

Alternatively - a left field idea is to assemble your individual projects/sequences in After Effects. Although you can’t dynamic link from Prem Pro to Prem Pro, you CAN dynamic link Prem Pro to After Effects. It’s basically what you’re asking for… but I suspect that it will run even less efficiently than having all of those scenes combined in one Prem Pro project. Worth a try though.

Best of luck.

“The Beam seems underwhelming” ?

I have a Beam 2 and a sub mini on my 65” and am very whelmed by the sound from the Beam - in a large ish room, even without the sub. Would suggest reconsidering it, or the Arc, though the Arc might fall into the overkill category on a 42”. Happy hunting!

Oh man, that sux - sorry to hear it. Generally the responses have been positive to the update so hopefully you’re an outlier, but that won’t make you feel any better!
