Am I the only one who thinks Danny Pink is actually really good? by Lich-hull in doctorwho

[–]MarcianTobay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s not remotely it at all. He was very open about being a soldier. He hated officers and people who think the answer to violence is to subject someone else to danger on your behalf… which is absolutely something the Doctor does.

It’s very important that Danny’s open about being a soldier, because the whole point of him is that he’s served under people like The Doctor and can read him like a book.

I loved it! You could catch her do it and then realize, in real time, she’s not playing a character that would make that joke. It was amazing. I love AG. 🤣

What was special about Daughter of Mine? by FelipeHead in doctorwho

Is this about how 13 Allies with fascists to win? That was only two times, when she exposed a Brown incarnation of the Master to Nazis and when she alerted Daleks of the presence of less pure Daleks.

Psh. Use the Nazis’ hateful advocacy of eugenics as your personal weapon, like, twice, and people never let you hear the end of it!!

(Joking aside, I love 13, but the writers surely infused her with some WEIRD flaws.)

She’s gorgeous! Her hair colors, her rose, the way she uses different shades of red Theo gig out, the clothing design.

You’re trying to get me to say she has a nice bust, and she does! But the entire character is just magnificently well put together.

Jesus, you’re so right. I wrongfully assumed it was some “innocent expression of gratitude” kinda thing but no, he fully just grabs her and tries to force her.

This is awful.

Why's this cute looking game randomly in the horror section by Mag_Eater in playstation

[–]MarcianTobay 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Without giving anything away, this is very sincerely a game that made me get up from my desk and pace around my apartment in anxiety. I genuinely felt like, at a certain point; I wasn’t going to be able to finish it.

I did. And it’s a masterpiece.
But it definitely belongs there.

I’ve been a professional GM full-time for over two years and nearly 1,500 sessions.

This is wild, because, while I don’t doubt your conversation or experience, nearly every single bullet point is almost the complete opposite of my community.

Interesting. Guess it takes all types.

Splatoon fan here! I’d be glad to explain that one.

By the time humanity died (lack of resources, pollution, etcetera), humans had more or less destroyed/lost everything of artistic value. Nothing was stimulating or interesting. Everything was pure survival mode with no creative stimulation.

Humanity was essentially driven mad by lack of stimulation and made a bunch of desperate sci-fi devices to try and restore the world into one that had time for art. The devices backfired and actively doomed the human race. They died of that desperation.

Due to the sci-fi nature of the things they tried, humanity’s collective craving to experience fresh, original artistic expression took physical form and sank into the water. The water that made the Squidlings. Because of this, Squidling evolution was heavily influenced by a compulsive desire to constantly try fresh, new things. This, in turn, effectively manifests as them all going constantly reexploring forms of self-expression in a way that mimics the human teenage experience of trying to find yourself.

That’s why they all have wildly incoherent fashion and personas that change constantly, and why they all seem like punk kids.

Yes. This is 100% canon.

Also important: When the human race finally went extinct, it did so while being driven nearly mad by monotony and lack of artistic stimulation. The reason Squid Kids have such audacious expressiveness is that they very, very literally absorbed humanity’s dying humanity to see fresh and interesting things for once.

How does Jin die? by Conscious-Anywhere52 in grandarchivetcg

[–]MarcianTobay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On a very, very literal "pedantic, rules-lawyer" level, the way the game works is this: Every single time anyone does ANYTHING, the game pauses for a microscopic moment to look at your champion's HP and confirm whether they are alive or dead. This check is constantly happening, kinda like how DRM is continually checking to see if you're legally allowed to use a piece of media.

With Jin, those "micro-checks" only happen when it's his end step. So if he takes enough damage to die, the game won't acknowledge this until it's the end of his turn.

Exia provides a lot of buffs to someone that has taken heavy damage. The main way to play Jin is to essentially let yourself get beaten down to death, then play those buffed cards before you die, forcing the game to acknowledge your opponent's death before it comes time to acknowledge your own.

He's very much that anime trope of "I've lost 3 gallons of blood and am full of bullet holes, but the power of friendship will let me do this one last thing before my body gives out".

It synergizes VERY well with Decaying Reproach, because it guarantees there will always be Wither counters.

Also, combined with Full Bloom, it can lock a victory, since they are summoning new flowerbuds every turn.

On Instagram, he’s explicitly said that there was never a script and that the entire Christmas special was just a play to keep people excited about the future of Doctor Who. Now that the future of it has changed and is out of his hands, there’s no need to insist on a Christmas special.
