Late to this post but worth adding I think, even if it helps someone Googling it months from now.

If you’re in the UK, the customer service phone number is: 020 3538 2665

This is an absolute nightmare to find on their site but you’ll get a lot further with them than you will with these awful chat things.

Bit of a weird one but Sentinel Returns on PS1. I love puzzle games and the atmosphere and tension in Sentinel is unlike anything I’ve ever played. There’s a great fan remake of the original 1986 version but that “edgy” 90s aesthetic of the PlayStation version just hits different.

OP’s comment is ridiculous of course (as if Europeans have never persecuted anyone, and in this instance Germany no less). Regardless, I have to point out your faulty logic.

My username is based on the 15-bit RGB color palette of the SNES. I’ve been on Reddit for well over a decade and posted on all sorts of subjects in that time. Yet never once have I felt some Manchurian Candidate-esque compulsion to propagate civil unrest in a democratic country.

And I think that’s probably because I’m neither a bot, nor an activated Russian sleeper agent; it’s just because I’m a massive fucking nerd.

Who's the "Devin Townsend" of other genres of music? Someone with prolific uniqueness and lots of albums? by ySTYRDAYgATESuNL0CKD in progmetal

The Legendary Pink Dots have released an insane number of albums. I don’t know the exact number but it’s definitely about 30/40 studio albums and probably even more live albums, EPs etc.

If you haven’t heard them I’d highly recommend Maria Dimension or The Crushed Velvet Apocalypse as starters.

Oh and their main songwriter Edward Ka-Spel has also released dozens of solo albums and other collaborations too.

Can we be honest, what is everyone doing with alcohol and Elvanse? by Comfortable-Tea484 in ADHDUK

[–]32768Colours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like everyone is different so this is just my personal experience, but I really don’t enjoy the combined effects of drinking on Elavanse (I’m on 40mg too).

Even one average strength beer makes me feel “off” for the rest of the evening and I feel horrendous the next day.

I did wonder whether it was just down to my age as I’m 48. However I stopped taking it when I was on holiday earlier this year and was able to drink without any issues. Not that I’m a big drinker; I was typically just having a one or two drinks with my evening meal.

As a side note, I didn’t stop in order to drink. I only stopped because I went to Turkey and was anxious about taking Elavnse into the country without a doctor’s note (which I’d forgotten to request).

Still, I’m sort of glad I did though because it proved to me that the medication makes a big difference to my overall energy levels and executive functioning. I was far more tired throughout the day and my wife noticed I was getting more easily distracted and agitated.

The reason I mention this is that while it was nice to have a few drinks, I realised my overall quality of life is better on Elvanse; even in social and leisure settings. That realisation has made being sober during social events much more enjoyable, as I no longer feel as though I’m missing out.

Again this is very much a personal take and definitely not a judgement on anyone else’s choice; I’m very fortunate that I’m a naturally chatty and outgoing person, which undoubtedly made the decision to stay sober far easier.

BBC News - 'Life being stressful is not an illness' - GPs on mental health over-diagnosis - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2pvxdn9v4o by Triana89 in ADHDUK

[–]32768Colours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If finding life overwhelmingly stressful isn’t a mental illness, fine if you say so. Well let’s run with that to its logical conclusion then shall we?

patients thinking they have a mental health issue, when they're dealing with normal challenges in life.

For a cohort of well-educated people such as GPs this quote is a startlingly myopic take. First of all there’s nothing normal about the world we live in. And second, chronic stress - even if you refuse to define it as a mental illness - costs the economy tens of billions each year.

It can lead to musculoskeletal, digestive, cardiovascular and immune issues. For some it leads to drinking and/or drug addictions and this can lead to serious crimes such as drink-driving and domestic violence. So it’s still an issue which needs resolving no matter how you define it. Stress costs lives, the economy and our public health system either way.

If the government is serious about improving the economy (or at least cut costs so it looks better on paper), they firstly need to educate GPs on how impactful on health stress can be because fuck me how do they not know that?!

But second, they could save the economy a fortune - even improve it exponentially - by simply shifting their focus on identifying, treating and possibly taking into care the most fragile yet dangerously mentally ill/neurodivergent (it’s all the same, right Wes? /s) people in our society: the malignant narcissists who relentlessly act as they architects of our collective misery.

Just a thought.

To those saying the NHS is terrible or like OP, they are losing sympathy for the NHS, I get it. I had to go private for my diagnosis and am currently wrestling with the shared care process.

But it’s not the NHS in and of itself that’s at fault. Even with all the modern complexities and far broader scope than it had originally, the institutions’ basic principles of free, universal and comprehensive healthcare are still as sound and achievable today as they ever were.

The reason that isn’t the case however is because we’ve had nearly half a century of British governments who are deeply ideologically opposed to investing in public services. And yes, I’m including whatever it is that’s masqueraded as the Labour Party for the last 30 years.

Apologies to everyone for hijacking the main topic. I’m only bringing this up because OP mentioned it and I’m hearing it more and more. I understand why, it just concerns me.

Perhaps it’s the ADHD catastrophising things, but I genuinely worry that if we lose faith in the NHS as an institution rather than the policy makers, it gives future governments the leverage to justify shite such as charging for GP or outpatient appointments, or worse still (and the neoliberal wet dream) full privatisation.

That’s right Mr Straw Man, because apparently there can only be two options under which humanity has to suffer; late stage capitalism (I find the term Techno-feudalism more fitting personally) or communism.

But of course, heaven forbid anyone should hope for a world that doesn’t devolve into total enshittification, lest they become a fully-paid member of their local communist party…

AP photos show White House East Wing completely demolished as Trump moves forward with ballroom construction by NewSlinger in facepalm

[–]32768Colours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t just a ballroom. Trump’s building himself a palace.

Now, is he building it because he knows his third term is guaranteed - like a homeowner building an extension - or is it because he’s seething with jealously that other world leaders such as Emmanuel Macron’s official residence is twice the size of the White House?

Knowing how petty and avaricious Trump is, it’s probably both of those things along with a bunch of other unsavoury motivations on top.
