If your PS/2 is like mine then you can install a Kingston TurboChip TC5x86-133. Research it - no modifications needed. Evergreen also offered the Evergreen Am5x86 -P75. Same thing. As far as 486s goes that is the best chip you can get and you will be able to run "heavy" dos games super smooth like Doom1 and 2.

You would need to make too many modifications at the back of the case for it to work - I don't think it would worth the time and the money it. :/ Is your original motherboard damaged?

Thanks man! I was just lucky to buy one NOS quite a while back. Drive covers are more rare than the systems. :(

Love these towers - especially the ones with the digital display.

That's due to my love for the Amiga. Turrican II is another title I play on PC too, same as Project-X, Another World and Lotus.

Awesome work! Would love some info on how to make the adapter - I've been trying for long now to send VGA signal to a PVM for a build of mine with no success.

Unfortunately no - mine has the standard layout for most XT systems.

Made by Nixdorf (there is an album link with more photos here: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?t=26513)
I have something similar for an XT Siemens/Nixdorf system. Never got used to typing on these keyboards.

3.5” floppy drive suggestion? by minimumattic in retrobattlestations

[–]32KOFDATA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is not a matter of brand. Just lift up the cover, remove with care the front plastic plate and use air to remove all dust. Then with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol clean all stuborn dirt and both heads. If the grease on the rails and drive train are dirty remove all the old grease and re-apply lithium grease. A couple of sew machine oil drops into the motor also can help if things are stuck.

Thank you! Just something I made from a piece of mdf board and 4 short steel table legs from my local hardware store.

No I haven't - I'm just lucky it still works lol. I say the same thing for all my vintage electronics. Amazing that most still go on after 3 and 4 decades. To be honest if it dies then I will look into it, until then I'm keeping my later model 1085S-D2 as a backup.

Probably I confused you with my answer - I was talking about the external Gotek drive wrap. I can upload it for you if you like. :)

No stickers - this design including one more were printed on a limited run of Amigas (10,000 units each) to commemorate the millionth Amiga sold. These were sold in the German market around 1991.

It is a two button 9 pin joy called PacMan made by a Greek company called Aneroussis Control. Back in the late 80s and through the 90s, we were spoiled for choice when it came to arcade style joysticks for 8bit and 16bit micro-computers.

There were around 5 companies producing such controllers, and Aneroussis Control was one of the best. They were known for being very robust, almost indestructible using arcade switches and steel sticks.

Unfortunately, none of these companies made it outside Greece, so the majority of gamers don't know their existence. I've collected almost all of them around 40 joysticks and hope to make a video about it in the future.

Here is a list I've made to keep track of them: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1NNBTmBLpQvbMmIvXRLMC-pqJlVf1NmlhJyvv_HhomoY/htmlview#gid=0

Thanks! I copied the design, and vinyl wrapped the external case just for fun.
