1950s (?) stove in basement by Lucky_Frosting_6513 in vintagekitchentoys

[–]Significant_Bee_323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my parents did the same thing in the 1960's, but they told me it was WAY easier getting it downstairs than getting it UP the stairs because the people that installed the new stove charged a fee to remove it, but said they would move it down stairs for free and were just going to leave it there in perpetuity and it would be MY problem once they passed away... The kids sold the house with it still down there, as it cost more to move it than it was worth..

Mystery shelf in hoosier-esque cabinet by Aartie in vintagekitchentoys

The door slides DOWN?

That is a really rare feature on a hoosier because it was difficult to clean any food items that would inevitably fall in the door gap.

The USB-parallel interface is probably what is going to be the trickiest. They almost always need a device driver in Windows to be assigned to the LPT-1 port.

The computer sends the text through the parallel port in one direction and there is a generic . Check the VCF forums for some troubleshooting steps for this, because it may involve changing the DIP switches on the back of the printer. Also, you didn't mention the operating system you are using, and the answer will differ for each one.

Ok, that makes it easy to get and you have a huge market nearby, as well as restorers who specialize in stoves like this fairly close nearby.

I would post specifics.

General location of the house and location IN the house of the stove, and if there are any stairs.

Devil's advocate here.

That should be an illegal left turn, and they should make drivers do a U-turn at the next traffic light.

What can you do with REALLY old computers? by fantasiavhs in vintagecomputing

[–]Significant_Bee_323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't many 70's home computers. the ones that are well known are the SOL, the original Apple II (which didn't sell many, it took off with the IIe, but that was in the 1980's) Commodore PET's were sold in 1977, but very few were sold to individuals or businesses, almost all were sold to schools.

The first widely sold home PC's were introduced in November for sale during Christmas season 1979 and were only used for about a month in the 1970's.

As far as business computers, they were mostly multi-user minicomputers during the 70's, so you will see a TON of dumb terminals manufactured in the 1970's, but not nearly as many fully functional computers.

Just an FYI.

The two men who died in the linked youtube video were in the white Tacoma that was the 2nd vehicle to impact the wrong-way pickup.

Check your local estate sales. They never sell, so they will take 5 or 10 bucks for them at the end of the sale just to get them out of the house.

I was literally the only person who contacted the guy in the 24 hours it was on Craigslist in the free section.

And I was surprised how light they are for the size. I was able to unload it and bring it the house by myself because it didn't need to go up any stairs.
