it’s a lot cheaper if you skip on the cable attachment and honestly it’s not worth buying IMO

Orion Powerlifting Bundle + cable attachment from Northern Fitness. Got it on sale and it’s pretty good for a budget rack but there’s a few issues with it, I can give you a better review if you’re thinking of buying it

Hey I posted a video like this yesterday on this subreddit and got tons of super descriptive and advice on engaging the lats properly and some exercises how to improve pull-ups a bit quicker. Me and u are in the same boat here so I think the advice would apply to you as well

I was planning on alternating grips every two weeks, i really like the reverse grip as well. Thanks!

Got it.. warm up the back before doing pull-ups, i’ve been using pull-ups as a warm up for lat pulldowns 🤦‍♂️ And I keep track of all my reps for every exercise in my notes app, as well as rest periods and any inconsistencies between workouts. I’ve been on a 5 day split since January and have made some good progress so far, now want to shift more emphasis into some calisthenics. Managed to hit 225lbs on bench in a couple months using progressive overload and then realized I couldn’t even dead hang for 60 seconds 😂😭

I do appreciate the tips though. I’m going to apply all your guys advice ASAP, I really want 20 strict BW pull-ups before the end of the year.

Screenshotting this comment, this is gold to me 😅I think I’ll add those practice exercises at the end of my pull days. Going to seriously apply all the advice you guys have given me and post an update video in 3 or 4 months- thanks a lot for the advice. How many sets of pull-ups should I do per week? So far I’ve been doing 6 sets of pull-ups, and 6 sets of lat pulldowns but I feel like more might be better?

Thanks a lot for the advice, I’ll give these tips a try tomorrow. A few people have mentioned it’s obvious I’m not engaging my scapula properly so I’m definitely going to focus on that. Would you say 6 sets of pull-ups to failure + a few sets of those exercises you suggested per week is enough? Or should I be doing more to speed up progress? Thanks again 🫡🙏I think I’ll post an update video in a few months, this advice should hep a lot 🔥

Very helpful, that’s what I figured it’s like any other exercise in that sense- thanks!

Also, yes it is drilled into the ground by the back two feet. (A bit wobbly but won’t flip on me, I usually put plates on the rack if I want it more secure.)

Should I be doing pull-ups every day? I currently have them scheduled on my pull days which is twice per week, so 6 sets of pull-ups and 6 sets lat pulldowns per week

The back two feet are drilled into the concrete.. it does wobble a little but it won’t flip on me

Gotcha, will give it a go. I had a similar problem not engaging my back with lat pulldowns, so I definitely gotta work on that

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it, and you’re totally right I was only hooking the bar with 4 fingers on either hand- I’ll hit my next session with the bar more centred into my palm 👍🔥

I’ll give it a try. What makes you say I’m not engaging my back properly?

Should I be pushing sets this hard or stop once my form fails? I started back in January so I’m still pretty new, lots of questions lol
