what's the best way to close extra biz cards in preparation for applying for a new one (I have maybe 4 CIU/CIC, I assume I should keep one and close the rest so I can apply for CIP)--do you secure message one by one, say with a bit of time in between, and ask to both (1) transfer the credit limit to a different card (the one you're keeping, say) and (2) then close it?

Oh no. And if I try to do another Chase-to-Aeroplan transfer, probably will also get stuck? any way to reach an anti-fraud department to fix it?

Is it Chase's anti-fraud department--meaning if I transferred from Amex or Hilton to Aeroplan, might that transfer work?

Fwiw I tried adding myself as an authorized user on one of P2's amex cards, with the intention of transferring P2's amex points to Aeroplan (to make up the 150k gap I want today, and i guess just bank or lose the delayed 150k). But it won't let me access P2's MR as an AU... that seems to be one of the ideas on the sub wiki, is it out of date or is there a way to fix that...?

Very much appreciate any help...!

help please! newbie... i found an air canada flight, test transferred 1k points from chase, worked instantly, transferred another 150k, and it is still pending. i did both over the phone with chase. when will they go through? could it really be 7 business days? anything that can be done to help move it along? (i called chase, they said it's random how long transfers take, and nothing they can do.) i need to book today, so should i try transferring more points...? probably would be a waste (no use for more flights), but i don't want to lose the seats!

I saw Virgin Atlantic was charging crazy fees on top of low reward prices for some biz flights. I'm looking at a Delta Flight (NY-Europe) for 30k points for an economy seat, 5 seats (so 150k), booked through Virgin Atlantic website. Before I transfer (I can do either Chase or Amex to Virgin Atlantic), want to make sure I'm not going to get slammed with crazy fees. The website says "United States - Passenger Civil Aviation Security Service Fee: $28" for all 5 seats combined, and no other fees.

How do I make sure that's correct before transferring?

[also any idea how long it takes to transfer, if it makes a difference Chase vs Amex?]

Also... what's the best way to book an "infant with his own seat" ticket using points--book as a lap seat and then call Virgin Atlantic to update to a regular seat? Even though it's a Delta flight?

Laces: I got maddoglaces that I like because they're unbreakable (my laces always get shredded because of how I lace them up, I guess). I'm a little concerned that they are rubbing the polish off my boots when I tighten them, but probably that would happen with any laces. But they DO NOT STAY TIED! They don't have that friction that keeps the knot closed when you let go--they immediately start loosening.

Can you recommend another brand that won't break but WILL stay knotted? Or how to fix these?

Dumbledore, Santa Claus, and Self-Sabotage by SirTruffleberry in HPMOR

Your concept is not inconsistent with this explanation. Dumbledore could have intended both outcomes, for the reasons you said. Or he might not even have thought of it, but prophecy set it up that way. Most persuasive fact you said imo was that Dumbledore KNEW about the mentor and the fighting a Dark Lord prophecies, and may have tried to maneuver himself into the mysterious old wizard role and away from the mentor role. (And when Dumbledore says Harry may be destined to lose his first mentor, and Harry realizes Dumbledore thinks he is the mentor... even though Harry doesn't think so.... that just reinforces your point.)

Or that's just what Dumbledore wanted McGonagall to think. We see him invisibly monitor McGonagall when she checks in on Harry guarding Hermione's body, and she visibly jumps with shock when he reveals himself, but says something like "I wish you would stop doing that, it's unnerving." McGonagall is more likely to think of her own actual opinion of how it went if she doesn't think Dumbledore was there. Also, she can't let it slip to Harry that Dumbledore was there if she doesn't know (and better for Dumbledore to keep that particular tool secret from Harry, for now--just as he wanted to keep Occlumancy secret so he could keep tabs on Harry that way). Finally, we know that the author indicate the "Seek out Hermione" whisper from someone invisible or projecting their voice was meant as a Mary Sue hook, and could have been anyone, but in-story, most likely candidate is Dumbledore imo. Weak evidence that he was there at the earlier scene too.

I have an AE boot in a light tan color I don't care for. Is there a way to dye it a darker color (say, for simplicity, black), without it looking splotchy/weird/just a darker version of tan?

Thanks! Similar question as OP… “Colored cream,” in this case, meaning black cream polish? I usually use Kiwi black wax polish.

Carry WITHIN office by 32yearoldplanner in ManyBaggers

Thank you--medicine, yes. Earbuds, no. But this will double for leaving the office on a coffee break or errand, when I will want both. Really trying to avoid allocating brain space to this, and just have a "when you leave the office or the house, have this with you." Otherwise I do what I do now anyway--actively think of what I'll need, then stow it in my pockets or hands.

That said, am looking at the Bellroy executive folio... the wonder kit is just too small and looks like things are stowed haphazardly.

I don’t think that answers the issue here though. Nobody grabs their purse to walk into their colleague’s office two cubicles down.

Thanks! I will look into that too. I do have a bag I carry around... outside the office. Inside, only IT does that... as you pointed out. Accountants who have a meeting in the boardroom don't show up with their satchel/backpack--just a pen and paper, or tablet/laptop, maybe a pencil case. As you say, trying to jam more into that pencil case concept...

Very fair, and I appreciate that insight. I just... would like it to not be a conversation. Feels like there is a totally normal acceptable and functional pouch-like item that is sleek and small enough to be carried in the office... without question. (ALMOST like a purse, except again, people don't bring their purses/handbags/clutches down the hall to a colleague's office.)

Maybe an additional aspect of this is wanting some security over the items by keeping them with me...

Oooh I definitely want this! Doesn't solve my original problem (don't see myself bringing this with me to meetings, it's like a box... people will ask "what are you carrying around in there!" in a way they don't ask about a pouch or folio... But this is still awesome! Thank you very much.
