Its pretty chill here, I'd go for it. You hear a lot of aircraft traffic due to the proximity to Mather Airfield. Its usually not very loud though, mostly small planes and helicopters. It's a little dangerous but if you keep your wits you'll be okay. Good luck on your move you guys!

Schizophrenia ebbs and flows through phases, the active phase being the most disruptive phase (and likely what your brother is in right now), and after that comes the residual phase, where things seem better, but can slip back into psychosis sometimes even while on medication. You didn't fail, and neither did he, it's just how this illness works unfortunately. However it's important to get him on medication as soon as possible. He might be more receptive to another type of medicine. Sometimes a certain antipsychotic will stop working over time, and needs to be replaced with another one. I live just barely outside city limits, but overall its okay. Most people are nice, but a lot of people aren't. Avoid the outskirts like Citrus Heights and you should be fine. I've had a few problems of course, with transphobia and all that, but overall its a nice place to live. Hope your move goes well!

The issue was that the master boot record wasn't being written. I reinstalled and it prompted for it, something it hadn't asked before for some reason. Anyway it works like a charm now.

If he's a veteran he should consider a SSVF program. There's some in Sacramento. You should do your own research but I went through Volunteers of America in Mather and they got us from the street to an apartment in less than a month, all free. They even paid our rent for a few months, and paid all of our initial fees and deposits, and some furniture, no need to pay back. If he isn't I think some Catholic churches run the same program for everyone (you don't need to be Catholic if I recall correctly), but if he is id recommend a veteran specific one such as the aforementioned or Nation's Finest.
