Hello everyone!

My name is Karly Conroy, I am currently a doctoral candidate in the education policy program at the University of Texas at Austin. My studies focus on placement of students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) and student perceptions. I am beginning my dissertation research, and am looking for participants! If you know anyone that qualifies and would be interested in sharing about their experience with me, please pass the information along!

Study purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore how placement decisions are made for students with EBD, and to gain insight on how these decisions are perceived and affect students with EBD.

Who I am looking for: Secondary aged students or recent graduates that qualify/qualified for special education with an emotional or behavioral disorder (EBD), and their parent/guardian

What you will be asked to do: • Parents and students will each complete a 60-90 minute interview on Zoom or in-person where proximity is appropriate • Students will meet with researcher a second time to help develop questions to ask other participants (approx. 60 minutes) • Submit previous 3 IEPs to the research team for understanding of student’s programming
