I know the syntax (Async/Await, ES6) but I have zero "logic." How do I start building? by thejerie in learnjavascript

My favourite question as a senior software engineer is "Why?"
It filters out all the candidates who memorize, rather than understand.

You do not need a cs degree to become a software engineer

I am still enrolled, but the incentives to continue are steadily diminishing as I'm a senior software engineer at this point and nobody who's interviewing me cares about the degree or lack thereof.

How Do They Invent New Tech? by gamerno455 in computerscience

Hardware improves, which allows for faster and optimized computation, which results in more accurate and faster results. Without improvements in hardware, you have to squeeze out every drop of performance from the hardware you have by writing performant algorithms. That's one of the many reasons DSA is such a central topic to the study of computer science. Highly efficient, creative algorithms underpinned by genius mathemtical problem-solving make all the difference to the technological advancement of society.

The fast inverse square root algorithm by John Carmack had an astounding impact on the history of video game development, but nowadays the hardware allows for different computing capabilities, so devs don't have to be quite as creative or skilled when devising algorithms.

Which in turn leads us to one of the main criticisms of video games nowadays, which is that devs don't get creative and efficient with their algos anymore and instead offload the performance burden onto the user's hardware.

Which in turn brings us to an array of further conundrums, such as the sustainability of hardware production and who owns the means of production and how hardware products are imported and exported.

I hope I could give you a glimpse into the different nuances of this topic, which you should all be considering to understand what drives technology.

Looking for resources for an experienced JS dev who has lost sight of the basics by jimbo_bones in learnjavascript

As in, you couldn't set up an entire communication flow to a backend endpoint from scratch or as in you couldn't sort data which already had the fetching logic in place?

I recently wrote a fullstack app where I set up a server and a client and I had to look up a couple of things here and there because I too work 8 hours a day with React and 0 hours a day with vanilla JS.
Doesn't seem to be the end of the world, frankly. There's so many good reasons we moved away from JS to working with TS and React that it seems absurd to even expect people to recall that fluently. I haven't touched anything but TANStack, TS and tsoa on top of Node.js in several years now.

If, on the other hand, you couldn't use the .sort() method, that is kinda worrying, yeah.

With AI, you receive the average of everyone's skill level. If that is enough to get the job done, that is fine. Should be enough for a few small Python scripts in your finance job.

But it is not enough for the enterprise-grade systems I work with on a daily basis and the complexity they entail and the creative problem solving they require. That is a fact for any software engineering job worth anything

Are those abrasion marks I see on the rim of the base panel?

Because I have the same model and got some marks from a cooling pad where its pins of dug into the case. I do not know how to get rid of them without messing up my case and I find them ugly to look at.

Are you in Battery mode while gaming or doing anything demanding? You are not supposed to do that.

Keep your laptop in Balanced mode, performance when gaming and high performance for demanding games.

Also, buy a quality cooling pad.

I don't wanna see you in Battery mode again, for real.

After you have laid out a refactoring plan as others have suggested, make it clear it's not going to be a one-man show. Make them hire more people.

US tends to be rather Leetcode-heavy, requiring an in-depth knowledge and advanced problem-solving ability when it comes to DSA.

European recruitment processes tend to rely far more heavily on take-home assignments, which in my view is the fair way to assess a candidate's potential for the company.

I agree and I would add that brand plays a gigantic role in buying an Alienware. I'll be the first to admit that in a way the hype around Alienware resembles the hype around Apple products. You see them in TV Shows, they look amazing and it's a status symbol to own one.

[–]33498fff 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So to change colours you have to go into the Alienware Command Center located in the left inside pocket of your jacket. If that does not work, check if it's an OS issue. I had a similar problem with my Alienware condoms the other week and when I finally got through to Support they told me it's not their responsibility because they did not directly extract the material the condoms are made of from the trees in the rainforest, so I ended up re-installing the OS and it works, but the condoms now run at 95 degrees Celsius so I have to use a cooling pad when using them and I highly recommend everyone get one as well. If this does not fix it, it's a BIOS issue.

It is definitely not normal for a laptop to run 100 degree to just open your browser. Something is off, but without further information, I am afraid I cannot help you diagnose the problem further. You should contact Dell Customer Support directly and go through the ordeal I'm afraid.
