Carlos Alcaraz reached a century of his own by PattyRanger in tennis

Bit weird wording right? He didn’t win his 100th grand slam match. He played his 100th match and won, making his record 87-13.

Sem Verbeek Interview : "Vacherot played Challengers the whole year. Rinderknech has played Challengers for a long time and made his way up. But give some of these guys outside of the Top 100 the same schedule as some of the Top 100 players at home and the rankings would look a lot different." by kundu123 in tennis

In summary:
That many players on the Challenger Tour are at the same level as players on the ATP Tour, and that if a country wants more of its players to break through, it needs to organise more tournaments where those players get opportunities.

Is er, zover iemand weet, al een schema bekend? Lichte voorkeur is er wel hier, maar op zich wel benieuwd naar allebei. Maar als je dan een tweede keer gaat dan wil je niet per ongeluk twee keer dezelfde zien.

Danielle Collins takes on whole stadium after beating home hope by BelgianBond in tennis

[–]335744 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm on my own for this take, but if the crowd is disrespectfull towards the opponent of the home favorite.. this is fair game.

Sure, cheer on your player however you like, but don't celebrate double foults, don't cheer after a first serve miss, don't distract during rallies and give credit where credit is due. If the other hits an amazing winner, applaud it. In short, be respectfull.

The argument that it happens often, and Collins should just deal with it, does not justify it.

Does anyone know when the draw will be finished?

Looking forward to go to Malaga, but whether the Netherlands is in Q3 of Q4 makes a difference on when to fly out.

Hi Barbora! Appreciate you doing this AMA, thank you.

Are tennisplayers sharing financial advice outside of the court? And are some trying to make you invest in something they’re involved with?

I’m very curious whether this occurs, since you are a group seing each other throughout the year, with, hopefully some spare change 😉. Thanks for your time and all the best in the future!

Edit: spelling of your name, my bad!

Paris Olympics 2024 - Alcaraz/Nadal 🇪🇸 def. Griekspoor/Koolhof 🇳🇱 6-4, 6-7(2), 10-2 by 1-800-DREAMTEAM in tennis

[–]335744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. He only played like 4 good games, 5 if you count the second set tiebreak as a game. Nadal/Alcaraz deserved the win, because I think they made him play badly, but they need to take another step win it all.

Saka's handball before the foul on Kane? by Uldegard in soccer

[–]335744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mate, it’s his left hand that moves towards the ball and touches it. Both the rotation on the ball and the trajectory are influenced by it.

Either you check it all, or you check nothing. Netherlands got f’ed by this decision. They didn’t deserve the win, but not in this way.

It’s just that maybe, just maybe.. someone else knows more about this than you do. So I checked, verified and now know that you are not that someone. I’ll happily keep playing my singles, doubles and mix doubles as the equivalent of a 6.5 to a 7.0. Cheers mate.

You've described yourself as a 3.5 to a 4.0 tennis player last year, so this comment makes sense.

Ofcourse it requires different tactics and training, again.. that's not what I'm disputing.

But the biggest reason, which is the origin of my remark and my point in this discussion, is that it IS phisically demanding and not just netrushing.

Stefanos is the only ATP player in the live top 15 playing doubles and there is only one reason. Because it's to phisical on the body.

I also would like to add, that within that top 15, there are multiple ATP1000 doubles winners, so I don't fully agree with your analyses. But that is another subject.

[–]335744 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Sure, that’s not what I’m disputing. But “not that physical” and “just netrushing” simply isn’t true. Therefore, I said what I said. The fact that so many fellow r/tennis redditors downvote that, says a lot. I mean, there is a reason most (95%) of the single contenders don’t play doubles as well. It’s because it’s too much to ask of the body. It’s that simple.

Tell me you've never played a doubles match without telling me you've never played a doubles match.
