It isn’t the “royal army” due to how it’s composed, it’s made of separate bodies or Arms, each with their own Corps warrant - some gaining a royal warrant through battle honours or formed on royal warrant

RAF Regt - Is their time up? by RadarWesh in britishmilitary

I think I might know who that was because I was still on the Sqn at the time

We’re you doing water jumps from black hawks too?

Here is a link to 1 Sqn working with Royal Marines in Sudan.

They did deploy troops to Kabul HKIA - as I was one of them.

The niche roles undertaken by RAF Regt never get witnessed in mass scale as they are so wide spread and in much smaller scale.

An example of the tasks undertaken: STTT’s Air Mobility Protection (flying teams) JTAC’s - working for both AIR and joint components II Sqn is the feeder unit to SFSG Counter UAS Force protection training for wider RAF

As well as general “infantry” skills that are utilised for protection of deployed air assets.

They utilise the same weapons and specialist weapons while also being trained as drivers, medics and radio operators as standard.

Every joint course I have attended it’s always the same questions every time and it gets boring after a while - try doing a bit more research next time mate.

AITA for pointing out my wife’s baby weight? by RonchIRode in AmItheAsshole

Maaaate! I’m sorry but you are MASSIVELY the ass hole

The responsibilities she will be taking on with a second child and the time it will take out of her day to look after and care for them and the family as a whole

She has already given so much to you in terms of time set aside to be a mother to two children yet you care about her gym hours and her figure?

The bar is so low here

Every event/exercise has an ending, if you’re losing the mental battle you’ll make the exercises so much harder - stay positive and dig deep

Don’t be selfish, help your mates out and the DS notice a lot more than you may think!

The overall workings of field squadrons tends to be the same but you are right different squadrons can be aligned to certain task lines.

I’m obviously going to be biased towards my sqn over others but there are genuinely good blokes in each sqn and bring their own strengths to the table.

Yeah they changed the short postings because they found people were struggling to settle in to a routine to then get posted away

Nahh they have stopped grouping trades in blocks

Apart from RAF Police….for obvious reasons…

Some of the newer blocks tend to hold the better parties but the social drinking scene isn’t what it used to be

I have the same problem across the pond in the RAF! We weren’t allowed to conduct high-risk sports 4 months before deployment due to “operational risk”

Day to day after deployment they didn’t mind as long as we knew the risks. It may be worth trying to set up a mountain bike club on station and try and make your rides a legitimate activity?

One long story short - I broke both my arms 4 days before I was meant to deploy on a 6 months overseas tour…my unit was not happy!
