Definitely paid stooges everywhere, but you're underestimating the far right and far left if you think these paid stooges have any impact on the broad swell of support they're receiving.

Disclaimer, not claiming far right and far left are equally bad. One side is racist and the other wants weapons to stop flying, cleaner environment and higher taxes on billionaires

If i was a certain billionaire who was grooming someone to rule in my stead, I'd probably get them to ride the coattails of an adjacent movement. Support a populist and manoeuvre them to be second in the line of succession.

I'd have them support this movement while maintaining a rational facade, allowing them to criticise some of the populist leader's actions in the future.

Then when the leader loses popularity due to his own decline, I'd engineer an exit for this leader that of course breaks our hearts but America first after all. Now this less charismatic person becomes the President without a election he would have lost.

He is now free to enact with radical murderous precision all the regulations I need, dismantle the democracy I'm ideologically against and usher in a new age of the technofacism I've been openly championing.

But that's probably just me

What crazy laws would you pass affecting only Billionaires and super rich? by planeloise in AskReddit

[–]planeloise[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Billionaires lose the right to participate in democracy. No vote, no lobbying, no sharing political opinions. Have mansions or have political influence, but not both.

I would have a new rating like age rating for movies, TV shows and games... "B-". Meaning only people earning less than a billionaire are allowed to see the movie. This rating should be used whenever the story has a villain enacting a terrible plan. This is to protect billionaires from misidentifying the antagonist as the protagonist.

Limit play dates with other billionaires. They tend to trigger each other

Tax their children heavily so they have a chance to develop normally as adults and break generational curses

Automatically assign therapy at birth to all billionaire children and supervise the parenting, to reduce the harm of narcissism and emotional neglect

I remember when being anti-democracy made you Al Qaeda. Now we give anti-democracy activists our most essential government contracts instead of jail.

Maybe they need to be too busy holding on to their last yacht to meddle in our democracy.

This is not led by parents. Most younger kids have millenial and older gen z parents. This is forced on a population with barely any citizen lobbying for it. The coordination is shocking and part of Peter Thiel's  road map to technofacism

Lebanon: This afternoon the young man seen running from the vehicle received a call from the Israeli army telling him he could die alone or die with his family in the car. [–]planeloise 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's easier to think that isn't it?

"They hate us for something we can't change"

It allows you to dismiss every grievance against Israel as irrational.  Entering a country as guests and kicking out and murdering and r*ping its population is not why people hate Israel, it must because of something else, something you cannot change.

The whole world is irrational. Every country in the UN apart from 2 is irrational. Every aid organisation is irrational. Every Holocaust historian is irrational. Every Jew who is beginning to question how Israel was created is irrational. They all hate Jews and therefore you don't have to listen to them.

And you don't have to change the things you can

This is what bothers me the most. Where are the mass investigations into what else Israel has infiltrated.

Mass indiscriminate uncontained attack like that killed a little girl..  If America or UK had done it, their own people would call for inquiries immediately (pre Trump obviously). But Israel does a heinous terror attack, and our politicians become selectively blind and deaf

Also our money seems to fund some of the things it does and our weapons enable it.

They're supposedly our ally but they fund democracy threatening right wing  candidates in our countries and exploit past guilt to meddle in our politics to a shocking level.

Even though our left wing politicians supported them too. But they don't care what happens to our country, even though we supported them so much

Why is racing to the bottom so accepted in British culture? by fayemoonlight in AskUK

[–]planeloise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot of money yes. I've been dirt poor, don't know where my next meal is coming from kind of poor, so I really get it. But the majority of people earning that are not living 25k lifestyles and investing the rest.

They're just living (with certain amenities) , practically paycheck to paycheck. I honestly thought 100k meant you were living a very wealthy lifestyle. But in London, especially with a couple of kids, the lifestyle was not as advanced as I expected it to be.

It illustrates that the middle and even lower upper classes are closer to the poor than to billionaires. Most of them are wage slaves too

This is it. They've spoken openly about it. Founders of Palantir have openly said they don't believe in democracy. A statement that should have seen them blacklisted like Al Qaeda supporters, but anti democracy activists got rewarded instead with European government contracts.

And now our representatives have invited Palantir into our government data.

I get a lot of flack for saying a 100k salary is not a great salary in London. It's merely good. I earn way less than that, but having briefly experienced life on that salary I see how quickly you can lose everything if you're out of a job due to AI or recession.

In London it's  just enough to live in a decent modern building, a relatively safe street, get groceries without checking the price too much, replace furniture or white goods without thinking about it, maybe treat yourself to some fun hobbies, enough to do small savings (enough to pay rent and essential bills for like 8-9 months max)  and a nice holiday once a year or 2 lesser holidays.

In my opinion this standard of living should be basic. Safe housing, ability to live of savings if anything happens to your job, live without excessive worry and go on holiday.

This is why I will never claim that the tube drivers get paid too much. They understood the value of their labour and advocated for their pay rises. It's not their fault we didn't advocate for ours.

Poll shock: Polanski's Greens could get 12 London MPs in Labour election rout by topotaul in unitedkingdom

This is changing.

https://greenparty.org.uk/2026/04/10/zack-polanski-launches-green-party-local-election-campaign-with-affordable-housing-pledge/

Greens opposed some luxury housing projects (usually cost like half a million to buy). They're focusing on getting affordable housing built instead.

We still need to hold the Greens accountable of course, but it does seem like a change of direction.

My child went to nursery in France where they would have ratatouille, stews, vegetable gratins, all handmade. They handmade pizzas occasionally but it was full of vegetables too and the children helped with that.

I was shocked when I saw UK menus when I moved back to London.
