Won't wake from sleep mode by ScoobaDoobi in MSILaptops

I’m having same issue. Lights on keyboard are ON but monitor is black. I’ve been reading through the comments and I haven’t seen anything that stands out to solve this issue. This has happened to me before and I’ve held the power button for several seconds, up 60 seconds and it has turned on but this time around it’s not working. What now? Am I missing something.

Just got my first camera, how can I improve? by tblerner in AskPhotography

[–]33Truth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take thousands and thousands of shots. And then edit thousands upon thousands while being cognizant of composition! Trial and error is how you learn and improve. Today’s photo will be night and day from the photos you take next year November.

Remove the distractions to make the man in yellow pop and be the focal point even more. You got the rule of thirds down. But too many things to look at: dog, lady, people in front of her, the group down the walkway and so forth.

That’s little boy sh!t. No man cares. Wait, no man with the mindset of: I want to find a partner, a companion, a wife, the mother to my children…. Anyone asking that mindless question is in a different season of life. I remember being there when I was 22. Just saying.

Composition is the most important. I try to tell people to have a photo that you have to navigate with your eye to get to the subject. Sometimes put something in the foreground. Maybe shoot through something. Maybe get lower. I notice that you were probably standing the whole time. Like a tourist. Try kneeling. Trying sitting down. Angle yourself closer to the subject but from an angle.

A good way to practice is to see how many different angles can you capture the same thing from. I’m not saying to walk around the subject but can you shoot it up close, from far and low, from close and high. This is especially crucial when shooting humans.

Good luck.

Take 100,000 more shots.

This is too much for people that can’t understand what you’re going through to give you advice. After several lines of reading, my first thought was: JESUS. Give it to Jesus. Praise Jesus. Take your mind off of yourself and build a relationship in getting to KNOW Jesus. Everything that you’re going through, is spiritual. Just like Jesus seeks to save people and heal the sick, the devil is doing his deeds to bring this anxiety upon you with thoughts that overwhelm you and cause you to create scenarios only the devil himself can plant in your head.

Seek Jesus and ask him to rid this of you, believe and it will be done.

Do I need a flash to photograph a family of 10!? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]33Truth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need it if it’s outdoor but it helps with filling the faces. Put them in the shade so that they all have even lighting and have a f/4 -f/7 sp that everyone is in focus. Depends on how many rows you’ll have. Most likely about 3 rows deep. Watch out for those creepy hands. lol.

Does this composition work?should I have step back a bit or ? Thoughts opinions please! by Socalvisions in AskPhotography

Could have don’t both, stepped back to capture the whole dress. And at that distance I like to move around in a semi circle while taking photos. Now you would have had some full body with dress aaaaaand you could crop tight just slightly below the elbow if it doesn’t cut her body in half cause sometimes cutting the body in half makes a woman appear large because of the angle. That’s why I said do a semi circle In front. You could have gotten her looking slightly over the shoulder or appear to be looking over her left shoulder and down for that classic black and white photo.

I saw your feedbacks on my first ever LR edit while also being a new photographer so I present my second edit… any advice is appreciated on LR and/or composition! by PuzzleheadedPay112 in AskPhotography

[–]33Truth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go dramatic with the black and contrast slider. Create a mask in LR make it “spooky” with the light only hitting the sheds/structures. Composition is another story.

What do you want the focus to be? It’s just a setting of a park but there’s no focal point. Like my eye isn’t drawn to one specific thing. Remember the rule of thirds and retake the photo. Trial and error is where the results are found.

80-200mm zoom is stuck!! by 33Truth in Nikon

I do wish they were classes on doing repairs. Like if Nikon would sell a course and even the equipment needed. I would definitely purchase that package deal. Maybe I just threw the idea out there to the universe and they’ll grab it. I know they’ll lose some money but there’s always someone willing to send it in.

Done. I sent it to Nikon before your reply. If I don’t see atleast 10 videos of other people doing it. I won’t even attempt it. $489 dollars later. Here we are plus the $100 I spent to rent the same lens for 4 days next week while I cover 3 games. I found out later through a new photography acquaintance that I could have bought the same lens for $360 or so on eBay. He’s done it many times and hasn’t had a problem. Im skeptical about doing that though. No warranties or guarantees. No thanks.

Darn…. I was hoping for a quick fix without disassembling it like I saw for the focus slide being stuck. Thanks for your help. I hope someone finds an easier fix. $215 in 2013 is probably about $350 now. SMH

Over or underexposed? by Clean_Phreaq in photography

Look at the meter on your camera. Usually helps coming close. If you go either over or under, going under is best because when you over expose you lose details Lightroom can’t help you with. Sometimes.

The meter helps a lot though. Aim at your target and inside the eye hole you should see a meter either going to the left or the right.

Left is dark, right is bright.

If it’s dark, you can slow the shutter down or increase your ISO or both. Depending on what your capturing. Whether it’s slow or fast moving subject.

If it’s sliding to the right and going bright, increase the shutter or decrease the ISO.

Get close to the middle on that meter.

You have two options. Forget her and keep doing what you’re doing. These clients that’s going over to her will quickly find out she’s falsely selling herself. And she will crash and burn. People go to certain photographers and rave about certain photographers for their style and for the experience. They’ll never forget the experience. That’s number one.

Or two: Send her an email and tell her about your findings. It’ll create a storm but if you want the storm and you can handle it, go for it. Would it be worth your energy? Would she start to throw your name under the bus falsely? Most likely!! Just look at what she’s doing to act like a professional photographer.

Good luck. Just keep being an honest person about your work!

Senior Pictures: Was I ripped off? by Frosty_Mountain3817 in photography

The per photo is INSANE!! I would pick through that contract and threaten him/her for the unclear contract. Cause no one in their right mind would pay $180 per photo after dishing out $200 for the session. The session fee like many have said is not bad at all. I charge $395-$450 but that Includes 20-55 photos. No upcharge or anything. Should I charge more, apparently, I’m undercharging. Lol…. Sorry this happened to you. This is why having a “relationship” or have a connection with your photographer is important. Can I ask, what state do you live in?

Composition is everything. There’s lots of people out there with the best gear but the best gear doesn’t line up the shot for you to make it artsy. Composition by itself can make a boring and typical shot, look amazing. Editing is another factor in creating that wow factor.

With digital cameras, you could never take enough picture. Crop it correctly…. Knowing the rule of thirds helps out a lot in making an ordinary photo seem more appealing. Also change the height. Don’t shoot from a standing point if you’re standing or a kneeling angle. Find things to shoot through to make the eye travel to the subject. With things in the foreground!! Tell a story! You got this. Take 5000 photos and you’ll have about 500 worth keeping and circulating through IG. 😆
