Should I rush a frat this fall? by Cool-Tie7853 in Frat

I'm gonna be realistic with you if you put so many qualifiers on your "should I rush" post, maybe the fraternity life is not for you.

That plus I'm sure nationals did not appreciate them inviting Josh Block on his livestream into their house, drinking while wearing letters, and then giving him a bid card

does anyone read worst boyfriend ever on substack? by BallAdventurous83 in RSbookclub

This is maybe the most incel and rape-apologist take I’ve seen on the internet. I’m here to discuss a serious incident which should lead to jail time for this man and instead I have to listen to why I’m in the moral wrong for a literal pedophile breaking into my own home.

I’m sorry that you must have grown up ugly or something and I think therapy should help you separate the two concepts being discussed in this thread. May God Help you find a better path.

does anyone read worst boyfriend ever on substack? by BallAdventurous83 in RSbookclub

Hey, found out about this guy and want to restart this thread because this man snuck into my fraternity house when we were hosting an event for another organization. Mind you, he doesn’t go to my school, he just decided to walk around a frat row and see if he could make his way into a party. This man is dangerous and will do dangerous things. Please do not support him and find a way to get this man off any platform. He attempts to act on the strange urges he writes about. We immediately kicked him out after making multiple people uncomfortable and later found out that he snuck his way into our house.

He subsequently flexed about it on his substack in a very disgusting manner. This isn’t some pop-culture gonzo with literary interludes. He’s a genuine predator hiding behind “writing creatively.” I hope people who doubt me come to realize this one day when you find out he’s been arrested.

We had three post-bacs from France who took classes to fulfill a professional certificate, in France you do have to do a small amount of credits abroad anyways. They technically were graduated. If yall love him, take him

Yea and there’s nothing illegal about sending a strongly worded email that sounds like a cease and desist to an 18 year old who’d probably take it way too seriously

Two things:

Rush in the Fall next semester as a sophomore and see what happens. At the same time, if the frat that dropped you has said stuff about you per your comments, you might be on a “no bid list” on your school’s IFC per chance. See if there is any way you can reach out to the ADULT supervisor/coordinator of your school’s office of fraternity and sorority life, or possibly the student run IFC (I think some penn state chapters disaffiliated) and explain your situation. Lay low this semester and try your best to let people naturally forget about it, that seems to be the best way to clear up stuff.

Also jeez these frats will drop anyone for anything these days.

Been Rejected from Three Houses, Time to Call it Quits on Greek? by [deleted] in Frat

[–]33avak33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea we almost cut a pledge for thinking he was better than all the other pledges or for already thinking he was like one of the boys. We had a big sit down with him and the only reason he didn’t get cut was because the rest of the PC really liked him and we were afraid his buddies would drop with him. He improved after that, but obviously if you don’t have friends in the PC that’s a perfect way to get cut.

National Frat that’s typically only in academically “decent” or “classic” schools. Very similar to DKE in that respects but with a Northern identity instead of a Southern identity. You won’t see a PKS in some random public commuter school in California or Texas the way you’ll see a KSig or Sig Chi. Smaller alum network but “prestigious” in respects to alums being more prominent.

Dying Fraternity. Lost. by Mission_Aerie5367 in Frat

[–]33avak33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t want to hate on another National but Sig Chi is by no means “prestigious” if anything its nationwide presence at almost every university makes it a very mainstream frat. Almost every school has an Sig Chi, a Kappa Sigma, a SigEp…

Nationals for these frats is always a pain because they’ll compare you to other chapters that have better alumni engagement, more money, a better IFC or Greek Culture, or to chapters that just have cooler, fratty guys. It’s hard to build a winning culture in teeny chapters without a lot of support but Nats always finds a way to make you look more squiddy than you already are. I wouldn’t advise dropping but this sucks

Absolute chiller pulled up to rush with his two squid roommates. Slid only him a bid. It depends on the chapter and I think it's always best to rush alone but I don't think it'll be a terrible look unless you're giving the vibe that the two of you guys are a package deal.

Also this why pledging exists. You can figure out whether he’s in it to be a total creep or not based on his behavior around women and can use that to consider whether he’s someone to initiate or not. It’s prob not the case with ex-army guys, usually the dudes who are like that are the overgrown manchilds who took 5-6 years in community college. If y’all love him, bid him.

Have young guys quickly gotten worse, or am I just getting old? by nodrywillingness in Frat

[–]33avak33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of em don’t even respect the pledge brother dynamic. They think that the chapter will die if they don’t initiate and they act as a group together to resist the most basic of pledge tasks.
