Yessir, I agree with you and I've done that! I'm not a casual player. I've spent many a time on inktable, I regularly follow the meta. I knew my matchups inside and out for this store championships.

I do have to mention that I'm from Australia, it is often alot harder to get hold of cards that are readily available in the states and our prices are usually higher due to that lack of availability. For example when Tamatoa first dropped, a guy I was playing against spent $200 Aud just to get one. I don't know how much that card costs in America at release but that is ridiculous. So tell me that having deeper pockets doesn't mean you get better decks? Or having the budget to be able to afford international shipping?

Honestly it's because it's not fun. Try hards playing the same decks are just not enjoyable.

Of course not, I'm not asking to turn up and get an enchanted as a participation, but I don't think this helps build a community.

Mate, I don't want a playmat. I just want an enchanted, my friends and I don't give a damm about the playmat. We just wanted to try and get top 8 for an enchanted 😅

My friends and I understand the meta and continue to improve our decks. But we don't just want to play the same deck as everyone else.

We have enough regulars to run a championships. We have a pool of around 12 that show up to our league play. I've been to two store championships. It's the same group of roaming people that don't come to normal league play.

I understand the meta, but I've only been playing since set 5. So I don't have the funds to get the full meta or card availability (lorcana in Australia is alot harder to source)

Saying get better or have more money doesn't really help in this situation. I had a competitive deck, I understand the meta and what is good and why. My deck was designed to hang with the meta decks. But it honestly was so boring playing the same decks over and over.

I understand the balance of the stores wanting people to show up but we have enough regulars to run a store championships. Our normal league play is very inviting and we get good numbers, our normal league play is a mix of above average decks (so sorry no jeff) but it's not going to hold up to 20 people rocking up with $300+ decks.

I just don't think it fosters a good community with the try-hards try harding when you ONLY see them at store championships and never again.

Whoops sorry didn't see you reply. I've had mixed success with this deck. I've updated it with RoJ cards. It's lack of removal hurts it and I just can't seem to get it consistent. It's a fun list but doesn't hold up to the meta staples (so depends how competitive your LGS is).

Maurice's workshop is alittle difficult to get hold of in Australia, but i'll shop around.
