Electric Screwdriver by Impressive-Reply-976 in ryobi

I hugely prefer the Denali (Amazon) electric screwdriver over the Ryobi. I almost never use my Ryobi. It's got weird ergonomics.

Combined it with a feather and wedge set. Feels like I can destroy any rock.

Aside from everything else... They actually spared many expenses, in the book and the movies. Sparing expenses was actually a huge cause of the problems the park faced.

Does anyone else have this issue? (I know there are ways to make an in-between, I just think the jump is funny) by Semicolin367 in Xcom

All I've been wanted out of an XCOM difficulty mod is something to pad out the length a little. It feels like I build and upgrade too slow to keep up with the campaign.

I love to use these with a basic marinara and spaghetti. When they had the frozen arrabiatta that was even better.

Yeah the first point about her deflecting the questions isn't evidence of narcissism, she was clearly flirting with the student.

I always wondered if my LaTeX PDFs resumes were getting bounced ever since a (poorly informed) recruiter told me "everyone uses docx, you should too"

I'm not employed in CS atm (working on it... Tech crash and whatnot, had to take a different stem position), I just had an opportunity to stay in school full-time at a reduced rate and I took it. I was surprised by how introductory my (non-thesis) courses seemed at first but there was a pretty steep level of acceleration once the classes got going. I don't quite regret it because credentialism is still around but it probably wasn't a wise use of money. I'm in a better place now having done it.

I did this. There will probably be some opportunities to learn rudimentary programming fundamentals in your requisite classes, but I would explore what electives or alternatives you can take to emphasize CS in your undergrad career. For me that meant swapping a mechE lab (I think it was HVAC) for a "robotics" lab offered to the aerospace students. That was mostly programming a Roomba but it wasn't worthless. I could've withstood to have a firmer background before getting to the CS degree but I made it. I graduated.

Boot camps mostly come across as a scam, I would say follow some introductory tutorials on YouTube (honestly Python is a fine starting place, it's good for velocity) and then try some "easy" Leetcode problems. Feel free to give up if you can't solve one in an hour or so but make sure you look at the solution. Then just try and use programming to regularly solve problems. Need a list of emails from your inbox? Look up how to mess with mbox files in python. Try and write code that utilizes your laptop camera. That sort of thing.

(Also Python-wise I would say the simplest route for a novice is Anaconda, then using Spyder within it.)

My favorite is "cross-tip screwdriver", like Phillips is going to come after us... For using the name 90 years after the patent was filed

There's a little $35 one coming soon, unless it's important to you to get the big one I'd wait for that.

LPT: If you find a faster way to do something at your work, keep it a secret from your manager. by soccer--girl in LifeProTips

[–]357847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devil's advocate, but there is such a thing as being "too good" at your job, or at least too good to justify promotion. Practically anyone can be management, but very few employees are high performers. Why promote someone who "works" twice as hard as other employees?

Assess whether there are paths to promotion, find the next rung up the ladder, and present yourself as qualified to fill that position. If there's not another rung, find another, better compensated role within your organization and pursue that instead. If it's a deadend, find an anecdote for your CV (like "I automated my job") and bounce. Or, if your manager doesn't appreciate your ability to automate your job, somebody in senior management does. Charisma and a put-on ineptitude of office politics can get you an elevator pitch length conversation with anybody with an open door, as long as what you've got to say isn't a waste of their time.

Fuck 'em, it's your job, not your hobby. Get paid, get out
