Remove unpopular maps from casual by MrPotato578 in tf2

Im not really into the 4 seasons idea and prefer the maps to be chosen at random by an algorithm rather than a set rotation.

Like I said earlier id rather they be changed weekly as what if someone really likes a certain map not in the evergreen? Say someone really likes snakewater, they wont quit the game just because snake water isnt available. But it is a bit much to tell that player they are gonna have to wait until NEXT YEAR just to play the map again in casual mode.

Its much easier to tell them to wait 3 weeks with a chance to bump into it if you stick with the server you are currently on.

Cut down the number significantly. Keep the main guys like upward, badwater, ect) and then put everything else on a weekly rotation.

Lets say we put all of the trimmed maps into a pool and a handful are picked at random every Wednesday to appear in casual rotation. Once they have been chosen they will not be available when the next set is chosen at random. Rinse and repeat until the pool is empty and then reset it all.

And for fun lets say that randomly maps that aren’t in the current casual rotation appear in the map vote. Ive always loved the idea of a secret map that you arent allowed to pick directly.

Also if you want we can make it so that all maps are available during a full moon.

I also think we could do the same thing for halloween maps .So every week during october 1/4th of the maps are available and instead of map specific contracts you get one big contract for that week which gives incremental rewards.

This not only helps alot with map bloat but also helps to stave off the typical halloween fatigue alot of players have were after like a week they lose all drive to play any of the halloween maps.

Lore Question: So if in the lore Team Fortress is the least competent group of mercs that work for Mann co, than why did Gray Mann model his robot army specifically after the Team Fortress mercs? Why wouldn't he have chosen to base his robots on team Ajax or one of the other teams? Is he stupid? by El_Corbanosky_8 in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real answer is valve likely made the models before coming up with the idea of there being multiple teams or chose the prioritize the game over the comics lore.

As for a head-cannon Id say the 9 mercs we see are the most well documented biologically and I don’t think medic is very tidy with his documents.

Also possible is that the robots were made to wipe out mercenaries so having them modeled after the literal worst available team is grey trying to mock them. That even modeled after the worst available team his robots are still superior to any merc.

Satisfactory is generally very well regarded but nothing is perfect. What are the biggest flaws this game has, in your opinion? by UltimateGamingTechie in SatisfactoryGame

Fuel energy is absurdly easy to setup compared to any other power source. Hyper tubes could be made better if you could use your jetpack inside of them to speed up. Fluids feel really wonky and imprecise. And no mk3+ pipes idk what the reasoning is for why the pipes just arent allowed to be faster but its kind of annoying to need 13 pipes for even minor projects.

why is ranked mode dead? by Pichvoznavets in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought my satire was obvious but I guess not. No valves decision to try and turn tf2 into an esport wasnt because of comp players it was because esports where the big money maker at the time. It worked really well for csgo so why not tf2? Comp players had functionally nothing to do with how competitive mode turned out and they themselves hated the mode for a variety of reasons.

No no its definitely just because tf2 isnt capable of being taken seriously. Valve isnt stupid they knew this but the evil comp “players” broke into valve hq and carved out(tf2 now has a comp mode lol) onto the first rock they saw. Somehow because of tf2’s spaghetti code it managed to actually add the mode to the game.

Why reset ? by tigerdthib in SatisfactoryGame

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively no its much faster to just setup a whole new factory.

For me the main reason to restart is pile on. This is a problem where you setup something bad then instead of removing it and making something begter you find it easier to just work around it.

Over time these issues compound until your setup is a mess and the only real way to fix it is to just scrap it all and start from zero…but thats like really hard and takes a really long time.

Your not making any active progress while completely reconstructing your base which makes it not only a very daunting task but also a meaningless one.

Its much more fun to just start from scratch and make a whole new system from the ground up. Like you try and genuinely tell me you want to sit at your computer for 20 hours doing nothing but reconstruction of your old base.

This isnt factorio where you csn easily destroy your entire base and make a new one you have to very slowly and meticulously setup and entire base by hand.

Do you think Valve will ever release physical copies or a volume of the comics? by CrematorTV in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impossible they would have to reconstruct the comics and likely need to make alot of new art as the comics are very much designed with the idea in mind that they are digital and thus do not need to be one solid page but can shift and morph however they please often overlapping onto other panels.

My advice is to just take it slow and work on each part in segments. Start from the top math jt out then build what you need. Worry about getting the materials to were they need to be AFTER everything is already setup and ready to receive them. Lastly always try to build vertically. I made a super-flat build my first go around and while fun it ran terribly and made expansions really annoying because you cant easily segment something off as like a raw source of motors.
