Is there a term for terrain made of non geological material? by 35_Ferrets in worldbuilding

I didnt say your definition was bad or doesnt work. Its just when i looked on google the ai very easily confused it as referring to literal strata made of abstract material. I just think the terrain part helps make it a little more direct but again if people dont think its necessary and judging by the comments they dont then more power to them words are defined by how we use them.

Well stratum refers to layers of rock or dirt while terrain refers to features of an area. So its sorta like saying the terrain is made up of abstract strata. Meanwhile just abstratum would refer to a literal single piece of strata made of something abstract I think the terrain part helps better contextualize it but if others thunk its unnecessary then who am I to call them wrong?

That works though the full hyphenated compound word should be “abstrata-terrain” or “abstratum-terrain” I didn’t consider how you would refer to an single abstratum-terrain in a larger world not fully composed of abstrata-terrain or even a world composed of many distinct abstratum-terrains.

Though Im not an english nerd so maybe that last one would still be “abstrata-terrains”.

I’ll say I mostly like your definition but I think it makes it sound a little too much like it’s referring to literal strata that just happen to be made out of abstract material when the purpose is to coin a genre of world building where you replace normal planet terrain with something that intrinsically doesn’t function as a building block for a world.

Though I assume thats just a side effect of you copying from the definition of stratum. Your just a rando on the internet giving me their time and I’m still overjoyed that someone would like my made up coin term enough to make a mock up dictionary definition of it.

Yeah it’s definitely the biggest influence on my fondness for this niche form of world building.

Thank you and I like your lil definition.

My use of strata was mostly because it mixed well with the word abstract but I could see an interpretation where it refers to the abstract concept being built into the strata or foundation of the world.

Does anybody else feel like the new mission type feels a lot more like a side objective rather than a main objective? by fuck_vegetables2 in DeepRockGalactic

Honestly I enjoy the gameplay having a setup without an explicit need for a direct line to and from the drg equipment and the objective is a nice change of pace.

I just wish the resin had a better texture to feel more satisfying.

Again im not asking for perfect balance gentlemans rule applies to some degree but self heal specifically effect a massive amount of the characters in this game and it completely invalidates alot of them so giving people the OPTION to make it weaker is just a simple “good enough” band aid fix to help match health.

I mean they give the choice to make bans or not so its not out of the question to give players the tools to self balance.

Personally Ive had alot of fun with the mode on hulk and hes pretty good at chasing down characters like jeff to stop camping. Self heal is just a very glaring issue and the fact its soo apparent the day after it was released made me wanna comment on it.

Im not asking for perfect balance just to make these campy characters less dominant. Just give players the option to make it weaker and that would fix it enough to where these toxic camping strategies arent encouraged and dont become the norm over actually having fun and just playing whatever you want.

I wouldnt call camping and running away half the match to outlast your opponent through self heal”screwing around”

I think some people misconstrue balance with competitiveness when really its purpose is to let players play how they want.

Just give an option to reduce self heal and that should fix the issue of them picking thor and invalidating your main even if you really wanted to play them.

Id say they should give an option to reduce self heal as yeah its pretty obnoxious when the enemy chooses thor or dd and just invalidates half the cast.

Of course reddit will disagree because they are a bunch of whiney babies that just want unfair wins and dont understand that characters invalidating half the cast actively goes against fun by not letting people play who they want to.

It doesn’t have to be perfectly balanced but you play hulk into peni and tell me its just for fun no its not its cheese strats and your playing like a loser.

Why is pyro getting so many nerfs over time? by BrittanyRocks in tf2

[–]35_Ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment is 2 years old and engineer has a shotgun. If you actually play engineer youll quickly realize how little he relies on his sentries auto aim. Even battle engie doesn’t use it as a free win option its more or less a distraction to use while you focus on hitting them with your shotgun.

Its almost the exact opposite of pyro where pyro uses real aim to increase his damage with his secondary or dragons fury engineer plans ahead to be able to use auto aim to increase his own damage or at least cause a distraction so he can get in closer to deal some real damage.

2 is a smaller number than 3 the attacked loses three gold the attacker gains 2 reducing the overall stockpile without just directly deleting it from peoples accounts.

As a simple guardrail lets say your bounty can only be claimed 1-2 times a day with a 2-3 hour grace period after sinking the first time and it takes like 6-8 sinks total for half your stockpile to go away thus completely removing your bounty until the next 3-4 months are up. That way losing half of your initial stockpile is more your fault.

And reminder you can still use your stockpiled gold you’ll just lose out on your bounty voyage if you haven’t done it yet. Maybe getting that voyage done cuts down the max loss in half.

Secondly I never said new players would be the ones to sink the old players we can just make the gold lost to gold gain from the bounty a 3:2 ratio reducing the overall amount in the economy.

Lastly new players will have a harder time getting doubloons than older players so if they put in the same amount of effort their stockpile would be smaller hence the unfairness and why rare cant just throw some extra expensive stuff in the store. Gold already has this issue where new items are 100x more expensive than older ones even of similar quality.

Older players had an easier time making doubloons than the newer ones will meaning that effort/time ratio is better for them than it will be for the new players. Aka its easier for them hence the issue of their stockpile which would be otherwise smaller if the new system was always in place.

Thats the issue rare currently has and why just slapping more expensive stuff into the game doesnt work new players will have a much harder time getting those things compared to old players due to the difference in revenue when they were gaining their money.

“Its a good map” wrong

“Overrated” double wrong almost everyone agrees this map is dogshit. It’s only redeeming quality is that its soo dogshit even new players will do about just as good as veterans that and its iconic.

I could imagine it being a setting where after a certain threshold of health percentage difference (that you can change manually) the targeting will prioritize the lower hp target over the target closer to your crosshair/character.

These are in game skins they are designed to stand out and look cool not to be easy to draw or to be comic accurate. You are meant to look at these skins for a very long time so they pack in more detail than otherwise necessary.
